If Martin has size, coordination, a good shot and guickness, he probably just needs to be coached up on what to do according to where he is on the court
(distance from goal) and where the defender is (close up or dropped back). After he learns and practice that the tentativeness will be gone.

All I know is we throwing the ball into Jordan Mickey on the post more every game. His face up game on the high post is special. Just face it with jerel Martin. He is a good player but he will also play on the team with Ben Simmons which is fine with me. He won't be one or two and done.

This remains to be seen,he's a major project no one expected to be.
He's not a 'major project.' He had an injury 30 seconds into his first game, and is recovering. He hasn't been playing organized basketball for very long, and he didn't play against great competition during his HS seasons. Now, he isn't quite the player I expected him to be at this point. But, he's learning, and he has the tools to make a big impact when the light-bulb goes off. Give the young man time. All this 'one-and-done' crap needs to stop.
Also, Mickey is really good.

Mickey is the only freshman playing up to his potential. Quarterman and Martin are very over rated at this point. We expected the big Australian to take a while. Odo is just a tall inside player who is average at best so far this year. They are young and trying to learn how to play at this level. But honestly, Mickey is the only player that looks like a real playa.

I guess you didn't see Quarterman last night. He looked much better.

Mickey's high school competition was much better than martin's also. Martin is a baller though.
He was definitely more ready for college as he played nationally his senior year and played against elite Texas competition all HS and MS. Martin only played AAU one year and two years of HS basketball in the lowest division in Louisiana. There was always going to be some growing pains.

Mickey reminds me of Juwan Howard. Not just with them both wearing #25 but in their build and style of play.

I had not thought of comparing Mickey to Juwan. If Mickey gets a little stronger I think that might be a great comparison.

ULM doubles-up on JOB, so Mickey took advantage of it. Look for Texas Tech to double-up on Mickey next game, it should give JOB, Martin and Coleman a chance to shine.
The young guys are coming around, and Hickey is in the top 25 in nation in steals. Tigers No. 13 in Rebounding Margin

Johnny Jones dropped a startling revelation about Mickey’s night.
“We didn’t call one single play for him,” he said.
That’s right. On a night when O’Bryant struggled to four points and five rebounds, Mickey made his bones on second-chance plays and by benefiting from double teams swarming O’Bryant.

Mickey has so much natural ability and fundamentals. It's amazing really. He'll be very successful at the next level.
I see Lamar Odom being Martin's ceiling

The big diff between Mickey and JM was compition obviously. Looks like Jerrel will take a while to get used to college but Mickey was obviously challenged more. Both are great talents and this team is hardly average. Could of easily won the OS Tourney, was up by like 12 against the winner of it all and they jus showed their youth down the stretch but the game was closer than the end score and they were calling lots of fouls one way and not the other so...... But good teams can over come that. They will get better and watch out next year!
