getting run off over an 8 - 5 then 9 -4 followed by a 8 -4 season trend ???
11 wins in 15 bowl games
High expectations to say the least
Hope we treat Miles better if he has such "difficulties" several years down the road

I think it is perception
Aka just today Mack saying he is killing himself recruiting.

ESPN blowing it out that football banquet is Friday and he wants chance to tell his team, friends, etc
New AD ie Sheriff in town wants to make his footprint.
May be plenty of fire with this smoke
No Coach with that tenure and level of success deserves all that public nonsense
Would be insane if Sexton started pushing that thought over the Austin for little Nicky and they went for it.
He tried it after Miles lost that FL game then Les ran the table crushing ND in the Sugar Bowl - rest is history.
Hope LSU never treats Miles like that in public. One thing for retirement but another to make it look like a set up on somebody that loyal over a decade

You left out the 5-7 season in 2010. In his last 4 years, UT is 30-20, 8-15 against ranked teams. That's just not going to cut it.

Settle for mediocrity is what everyone should do.

this. Especially with the easy schedule Texas has every year.

Don't forget 5-7 before 8-5, 9-4, 8-4.. His conf record is .500 the last 4 yrs

Yeah, OP is just cherry picking and not very bright.
Or just trying to stir the pot.

Mack was treated fine on the 40 acres. VY and Colt McCoy bought him more longevity than his coaching skills warranted.
The fact that of the 11 Texas bred QB's that started an NFL game this year, Including Drew Brees, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Andy Dalton and RG3 NONE wore burnt orange, and most were never recruited. Adding insult to injury, the two most electric college QB's and recent Heisman Trophy recipients (post date this until Saturday evening if you must) were never recruited as a QB by Mack Brown.
In this business you adapt or you die. Lets hope CLM learns from the cautionary tale of Mack Brown.

Texas has all the resources in the world and should not struggle for that long of a period. A down year here and there is acceptable, but not 4 years in a row. LSU doesn't have the same resources, but Miles is in the same boat. 4 years of 4+ losses would likely lead to his early retirement as well.
That is the state of big time college football these days.

I don't believe Mack brown should be run out of town like he is. He has been one of the top coaches in the game since coming in. But all of a sudden after a few bad seasons everybody jumps ship. I don't like it. I understand this is a business which can be very cut throat. I just don't think its right

If Mack is indeed out at Texas, there is one probably one statistic that people will point to more than any other....only 2 outright conference championships in 16 years of coaching in Austin. He did make it to the BCSCG in both of those seasons and won it all in 2005.

Texas could do way better.

Texas has a $6 billion fund - yes they can spend money for what they believe is better.
But where is the sure bet?
Point of the OP is that we all complain about 9 - 3 and 8 -4 seasons and Miles never had 9 consecutive 10 win seasons.
Sometimes it takes lots of luck to make to the championship - look at AU this season.

I was thinking the same thing. Mack run our of town for 8-4 and miles gets a pass for 9-3. To be fair Miles did win SEC 2 yrs ago and the recuiting is top notch.

Mack Brown a better winning percentage than the great Darrell K. Royal.

It's what they sign for.
Positives and negatives.

Coaches should never be evaluated on one year alone, but in 4 year increments. That allows for a full cycle of recruiting. UT has lost 20 games in the last 4 years an average of 5 a season. This is coming off playing for a NC game 5 years ago. Does that look like Brown has UT going in the right direction?
ETA: Many on this board think Miles should be fired but he has only lost 9 games in the last 4 years. That would be 11 fewer than Brown.

they play 1-2 good teams a year
they have won 1 national championship in 16 years with arguably the best talent in the country.
