Point of the OP is that we all complain about 9 - 3 and 8 -4 seasons and Miles never had 9 consecutive 10 win seasons.
Sometimes it takes lots of luck to make to the championship - look at AU this season.

Either you are arguing just to argue or you are just thick headed. Mack Brown isn't being fired because he can "only" win 9-10 games and not win NC. Mack Brown is being fired because he's 30-20 over the last 4 years and only wins 1/4 against ranked teams. 1-3 against OU. And the list goes on and on.

getting run off over an 8 - 5 then 9 -4 followed by a 8 -4 season trend ???
11 wins in 15 bowl games
High expectations to say the least
Hope we treat Miles better if he has such "difficulties" several years down the road

there is much, much, much more to this Mack Brown situation than those numbers (record defeats to their arch rival OU by record arse whipping numbers).

Can you imagine getting beat down 63-14 by Bama or Auburn or Florida? Hell no.

And I love Les Miles. but I would be super pissed with him if he head Mack's last 5 years or so.

Mack's resume doesn't even compare to Bobby Bowden's yet Florida St administration realized he was running the program into the ground and had to go after a similar stretch to what Texas is having now. He would still probably be coaching today if they waited for him to retire. Unfortunately most highly successful coaches don't know when to quit

My thoughts on Mack Brown for years, even back when he was considered an "excellent" coach, was that one of the most important aspects of modern college football (in particular, to "top-tier / BCS football") is that Mack Brown is an average coach AND that the longer it takes UT fans/administrators to figure that out and do something about it, the longer UT will not be seen as a player amongst the big boys with any consistency.

It seems they figured it out, little-by-little, over the last three seasons. Assuming they make a good hire, this could drastically change the landscape of football.

The final tally on Mack Brown
16 seasons of TOP-FIVE recruiting classes (more or less)
2 conference championships

You realize he had a 5-7 season thrown in there too, right? In the last 4 years, UT is also 18-17 in the last 4 seasons in the Big 12. That is the definition of mediocre. Don't add in their horrid OOC wins to bolster his record into more than it is.

In 9 years, Les has only had a non-winning record in conference once (2008). In 2 of the last 4, Mack Brown has had 2 conference losing records.

Mack Brown is a coach that rested on his laurels and never showed the energy and fire that his players needed. He was the ultimate players coach and while many call Miles a players coach, you don't see them looking as lethargic as most of Mack's teams.

Those kids he brings in feel entitled, and expect to just win cause they are so talented. That is the culture that has to be changed down in Austin. It's also why Mack saying he's "killing himself" recruiting is such a laugh at this point.
