It's really great when it's fresh. Truth.

They will make you think you are hooked into a state record bass if caught on a lure. Catching them on yo-yo's is exciting too.

please, for the love of god, tell me if you're trolling about eating it raw, because otherwise i'm going to actually do it next time i catch one.

just like i said...
just remember all raw protein product safety warnings do apply.. and don't eat it from any water you wouldn't normally eat fish out of anyway...

10-4 good buddy. I'll let y'all know how it goes. Probably won't be fishing again until springtime though.

I'm always amused when the topic of choupique sushi comes up. I think I believe you, but I just can't fully get on board that you're not just fricking with everybody. I mean, how the hell did you even come to try that?

Think I am gonna have to trust you on this one? My encounters with Grinnell is hit them about 4 times with a paddle and throw them back in the water.
We call em mudfish where I'm from. We do the same, club em and dump em. I have heard they are good to eat, but they are just mudfish to me.

They are still alive. It only serves to make them that much meaner when some other unlucky frick catches them.

Cooked some grinnel on the grill. Nasty.

I just got the strangest sense of deja vu reading this thread.

Choupique
Shoe Pick
Cypress Trout
Grinnel
The kind of fish where you don't stick your thumb in the mouth to remove a hook.

There are enough fish that taste great without any special restrictions on how to clean/eat it. If you put a choupique in my icechest yourself and the icechest are going overboard.

We'd put them in wet burlap sacks to give to the colored folks next door to the camp.
