One more nail in the NFL's coffin?

The Fritz Pollard Alliance (They are the ones responsible for teams having to interview a black person for any open head coaching positions) sent a letter to the NFL on Monday calling for a 15-yard penalty on players who use abusive language on the field.

quote:

The advocacy group, which promotes diversity in the NFL, wrote to league general counsel Jeff Pash and specifically noted the use of racial epithets

quote:

“There is no valor in using racial epithets. … Directing the ‘N’ word towards others in a place of work is abusive, threatening, and insulting,” Mehri wrote to Pash.

quote:

On Friday, the league announced that umpire Roy Ellison was suspended for this past weekend as punishment for words directed at left tackle Trent Williams late in the second quarter of the Redskins’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles the previous Sunday.

quote:

Wooten, whose group includes minority coaches and officials, said his organization spoke to game officials who said Ellison was responding after Williams directed the N-word at Ellison.

quote:

Williams and Ellison are African-American.

I'm confussed. Black people cant call other black people the N word anymore?

Valor? We're talking about sports here, not storming the beaches of Normandy.

Tackling another person in the workplace is abusive and threatening, let's just eliminate that as well.

I don't like it when guys put their hands together in the air and make a vagina symbol. That is degrading to women.

So is it a 15 yard penalty if one N-word calls another N-word the N-word?

OK, obviously this sounds stupid, but it might make sense from a business perspective. The way everyone is miked up, you can hear a lot more of what's said on the field than you could 5-10 years ago.

If the NFL decides to go along with this, maybe they do so and say they are trying to "keep it clean for younger viewers"?
