Will a NBA team top 72 regular season wins this year?

Eastern Conference teams that could challenge the record:
Indiana - 13-1 (.929)
Miami - 11-3 (.786)
Western conference
San Antonio - 13-1 (.929)
Portland - 13-2 (.867)
It is early in the season but the east is just awful as a whole. There is also nothing at this point San Antonio could do that would surprise me. I don't see Miami or Portland pulling it off, but San Antonio or Indiana could if they stay healthy.

San Antonio will be 5 or 6 games clear of everyone else come April and begin to rest starters. They're old.
The Pacers have the "best shot," because grabbing home-court throughout is extremely important to them, because that's probably the only way they beat Miami.
However, I think Miami will rest some guys late in the season as well. The Big Three's minutes are already down, and I think they realize that they need to be fully rested and healthy for the playoffs if they're going to win again.
So no, no team will do it. Spurs or Pacers could win 65 though.

No they will not. I don't even think 70 will be reached for a while.

Let's compare.
5-1 when lost first game.
10-2
Bulls were 23-3 when they lost that third game.
Lost Game 4 and 5 back to back to make them 41-4 and 41-5
48-6
54-7
60-8
66-9
71-10
They went on two big runs after their 2nd and 3rd loss. After that, they lost every 6 games or so.

Maybe if the Spurs were younger, but you know Pop will begin resting them towards the end of the season.

Pop doesn't even wait till then. He has already sat Duncan once or twice.

There's only one team that may be good enough to do it.
And they don't care about the regular season, so 0% chance.

well we know how important Finals home court is... i don't care what they say about veteran teams not caring, you want game 7 on your floor... this is why the NBA is the second best regular season in sports, even though many disagree.
the Heat and Spurs are good enough to do it... the Pacers? let's see them get to about 30-3 before I say they can
but if teams push each other it can def. happen

Of course you want game 7 on your homecourt, but most series don't go to 7 games so it's not THAT important.

how about no road team has won game 7 since 1978?
the Spurs went to Miami up 3-2 and went home without the trophy
it shouldn't even be measured in stats... it should be measured by the nerves at those points whenever a team tries to do ANYTHING. the home crowd helps you make those hustle plays that overcome nerves

I was thinking Indiana had a chance but I saw this stretch of games. They will be lucky to win two (Utah is basically a gimme)
@Los Angeles Clippers Sun, Dec 1
@Portland Mon, Dec 2
@Utah Wed, Dec 4
@San Antonio Sat, Dec 7
@Oklahoma City Sun, Dec 8
