Of course not. Do you really think they're going to come out and say it's going to be resolved soon? They have to pretend they're doing their jobs.
Pretty sad.
Pretty sad.

Get real. Who talks about a case during an active investigation? Unfortunately, the damage is already done for now, whether Jameis is innocent or not.
Americans are so ignorant about our criminal justice system. I'm not shocked. People also forget how easy it is to bullshite a story and launch an investigation.

I think it demonstrates that this is not some clear case of mistaken identity. It could be a money grubbing he said/she said. It could be any number of things. But if they're saying it's not going to be resolved soon, I think they're probably being truthful.

We're talking about elected officials (Meggs) dealing with a celebrity. Do you think it would look good if they closed the case this weekend?
Obviously there's the potential that new facts or evidence could emerge. But based on leaked info, there has been absolutely no new information/evidence from the accuser. In fact, the only new information has come from other witnesses who back up Winston's story.

Is this referring to his lawyer's statement or something else?

From people that have first hand knowledge of the case.

Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times was the first reporter to contact the Tallahassee Police Department to inquire about case No. 12-32758. He was acting on a tip he got back on Nov. 6 from a trusted source, who told Baker that a woman had brought some sort of sexual abuse complaint to police last December, and that even though no arrest was made, Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston may have been the suspect. No. 12-32758 is the file number the Tallahassee police assigned to the case, which had not yet been made public.

t is not known how TMZ learned of the case—did a law enforcement source tip them off?—and Trock declined to answer any questions from us. It's not clear what other news organizations began contacting the Tallahassee PD before the story broke in the days that followed, since some reporters may have made phone calls instead of sending emails. The Tallahassee Democrat was one outlet that was on the case, though its executive editor, Bob Gabrodi, strangely also felt the need to put on his FSU foam finger before sitting down to type this paragraph to his concerned readers:
We knew a national media outlet was working on the same story, an outlet that didn't care a whit about our community, our university, our team or the young man many of us – me included – have learned to care about, Famous Jameis Winston.
How it all began

Maybe I'm just reading too much into this as a FSU fan but the whole "interesting progress" comment doesn't sound good to me.

So right before the Florida game. Hmm

It doesn't sound as problematic like this.

There's been a lot of talk from a lot of different sources regarding the Jameis Winston sexual assault case, but few facts have been actually confirmed. This is what has been actually verified in the case:
The incident took place on Dec, 7, 2012 and was first reported to FSUPD
The alleged victim first reported the attack to FSUPD, but the case was moved to Tallahassee police due to the incident occurring off-campus.
On Dec, 7, 2012, Winston's girlfriend was flying into town
Witholding her Twitter to respect her privacy, on Dec, 7 at 8:19 a.m., she tweeted "Ready to get to FL to see my boo", and on Dec, 9 tweeted "Well I had a great weekend, kudos to Mr. Winston for that."
The State Attorneys office hadn't heard of the case until last Wednesday morning
"Not a word," William Meggs, state attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit said to WCTV.
The case was reopened last week, right around last Friday when the story first to began investigated when Tampa Bay Times' reporter Matt Baker made a public records request of the case, who "was acting on a tip he got back on Nov. 6 from a trusted source, who told Baker that a woman had brought some sort of sexual abuse complaint to police last December, and that even though no arrest has been made, Baker would have good reason to look into it," according to Deadspin.
Winston's role in the case may be confirmed within two weeks
"We are making interesting progress," Meggs said to ESPN. "I think we can get to a point where we can make a decision by next week or the week after."
Winston is being investigated for his "potential involvement" in the attack, though his lawyer Tim Jansen has provided two witness affidavits to the state attorney, which they confirmed they've received. According to Jansen, they've interviewed at least one of the witnesses already.

Interesting comment

Again, what I love DAVID HALE, and I wish someone would say this on ESPN in PRINT....is that ok, the accuser originally didn't want to press charges....in a case involving Winston. The ongoing story in Tallahassee is that Winston is only a witness, and that perhaps another FSU players (Greg Dent's name has been mentioned) is the actual person who committed the act. If you read all the press releases and letters.....it never says the accuser decided not to press charges AGAINST WINSTON.....it says she decided not to press charges in a case he is tied to. Winston could be charged with withholding information, such as identifying the actual perp, and it not be Winston who is the one who committed any crime. Haven't you guys at ESPN done some real digging besides what TMZ and Meggs keep handing you?
