That's EXACTLY what I'm saying.

Saban isn't God but he's had a really good college QB the last 4 years. That ends this year so then we'll see.

people need to go back and really look at the 2012 class and the fact that we didn't take on DT in it as the reason our defense is having some issues. Combine that with all the NFL defections and you have a gutted and green defense.

or that the 2 DTs we took in 2011 have given us next to nothing. I mean at least give me some Josh Downs rotation snaps, geez.

"2011 team was better than 2007."

I know this is a commonly held belief, but I am not so sure. 2007 was a funny team to judge because they were diminished greatly by injuries in the middle/end part of the year. 2007 healthy had a very good defense and an offense that was light years ahead of 2011. Of course, 2011 D and special teams were unreal.

Finally, a question for you: Are so sure about 2011 being better than 2007 if, say, 2007 stops Arky on 4th and 10 and/or Zinger doesn't drop an easy TD?

Freak's knee has been hurt since week 1. He most likely will need surgery. Hopefully he comes back to have a better senior year. Ego has actually played pretty well, but I agree it's been slim pickings with dominant DTs within our recruiting footprint.

So whose fault is that? That sounds like recruiting mistakes to me. Why did we not have recruiting mistakes from the 2007 team and before but we have had some issues since?

Sure. I mean if you want to play the what if game, what if Alabama doesn't get the rematch in 2011? There was one team in 2011 that was capable of beating LSU that year, and we played them twice.

we did, we just were able to overcome them. I'm primarily talking about how we ended up with the RG/RT tandem in 07. guys don't pan out, guys get hurt, those things happen. sometime you're able to work around it, sometimes you're not.

He won with the NC with Saban's recruits and two good coordinators ... we will never see another NC as long as Elmer Fud is in charge. No leadership on this team or character .... NONE!!!!

We will loose some commits after A&M rips us. Hold on to your britches sun shine pumpers !!!!

Really? Not what the numbers say, particularly where the offense is concerned.

2011 Stats
2007 Stats

2011 Offense
Average Per Rush 4.8
Average Per Pass 7.7
Average Per Play 5.7

2007 Offense
Average Per Rush 4.9
Average Per Pass 7.1
Average Per Play 5.8

2011 Defense
Average Per Rush 2.7
Average Per Pass 5.5
Average Per Play 4.1

2007 Defense
Average Per Rush 3.2
Average Per Pass 5.7
Average Per Play 4.4

Hope I didn't confuse anyone with actual numbers.

Not to mention 2007 featured two losses, while 2011 steam rolled everyone in its path, usually putting 40 pts on the board. Every phase of the game was dominant. An NFL defense, and a no-nonsense power offense with what might be the best special teams unit LSU will ever see.

This is why I don't fux wit chu, tRant.

No, it's that Les Miles can't build a complete team on his own, and the OP is on to something if you would just read what he's asking instead of being a smartass.

Thank you for getting it. Every year going foward with LM at the helm of this program we will be saying "what if". What if all those defenders would have not gone to the nfl? What if we would have had this years offense in 2011?What if TM7 would not have been a pothead? What if Ryan Perriloux wouldn't have been kicked off the team? What if we didn't take part in the Mallveto experiment? What if we would have kept Ron Cooper? What if the chief would be more aggressive at the end of close games? What if Krags didn't get Parkinson's? What if Bama didn't get a mulligan? There are many others and I'm tired of typing. As long as LM is here there will always be a what if.

I'm not discounting your point - obviously we had a weakness at QB 2008 through 2011. We had defensive issues in 2008, 2009 and, frankly, 2012 and 2013.

But, with my stubby pencil, I'm coming up with 51-15 over that time (2008-2012, inclusive), full seasons, or up to 58-18 currently.

Let's look at those 18:

Florida 2008 - BCS Champs (undefeated).

Bama 2009 - BCS Champs (undefeated)

Auburn 2010 - BCS Champs (undefeated)

Bama 2011 (1/9/2012) in the BCS Championship (we were undefeated up to that point, and Bama's only loss was to us in T-Town during the regular season)

Bama 2012 - BCS Champs (only loss to aTm, whom we beat)

Bama 2013 - (will be) BCS Champs

The other 12, a couple of losses to Ole Miss, couple to Arkansas, couple (other) losses to Florida, Clemson and Penn State in bowl games.

That's pretty much it - let me ask you this?

Who else has beaten Bama twice during that stretch? Because we have.

So, you have to make up your mind - is the coaching bad when we lose and the players good when we win? Is that the argument? Because Bama loses, too.

And Miles has NEVER lost to the caliber of opponent of UAB or UL-M, at least not at LSU.

I don't like the fundamental weaknesses I see on the team this year, particularly the defense's tendency to fade (losing a bunch of guys who are starting or playing significant time in the NFL this year will do that to your depth chart, but it is what it is - live by the great players, die when the great players leave early.), but let's not pretend this wasn't supposed to be a rebuilding year, defensively, new offensive scheme, etc.

Nothing changed......we've had holes in the team since since 2000. Some years you can hide it with an easier schedule, or a little bit of luck, but at the end of the day, the law of averages catches up with everyone.

FIFY

Our fan base is this way regardless of who the coach is. We are spoiled. Every loss is a crisis and the team is sliding backward and every win is just expected and no big deal.

So you are ok with losing to the eventual champs each year? I thought that was our objective, to be the champions.

Glaring weaknesses after 2007

You have revisionist memory just so you can try and prove the point that LM can't create a perfect team and Saban produces one every year. People have used actual stats and have pointed out flaws in Saban era teams or teams that you feel like Saban "built" but you have casually dismissed them. This is what I'll do, you sell me your LSU tickets if you have any and stop watching games until Miles leaves. I'll call you when we get a new coach. The university would be better off without fans like yourself. And before you play the whole i've been supporting the tigers for XXX years card you aren't supporting them now. So...just hit me up next year and i'll grab those tickets.
