Ball control is the name of the game. Could they play keep away and shorten the game like that vs. Bama?
Eta: rushing the field? Seriously?

I agree, purely hypothetical

Maybe but Bama's defense is light years better than Oregon's so I seriously doubt it

Could? Absolutely. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Stanford beat oregon because oregon never gets punched in the mouth until they play stanford.
Bama doesn't have that issue.
But they won't play each other anyway.

At a spelling contest? Yes.

Stanford is just a worse version of Bama

it would be about like the notre dame game last year...stanford is great at the pro style game but bama has perfected it...plus bams's D is much better than oregons

Heck no! Bama has experience against trees.

Stanford's CBs are a liability in tackling and McCarron sells his soul every bowl season prep and becomes regular season Peyton Manning for the bowl games.

Stanford would need to rely on Hogan making some more throws than tonight. I'm not convinced he'd be able to do that consistently against a better defense.

They could if could more consistently grab seven when they get in the red zone instead of settling for three.
But 2013 Alabama is a better team than 2013 Stanford, if that's what you're really asking.

No, it wouldn't. Stanford is much better than the sham Bama played last year. Mostly because Stanford doesn't get intimidated.

Outside of LSU teams have required an elite QB to give Bama trouble. I don't think Hogan could do that.
Plus Stanford couldn't control the TOP like they do against Oregon. Our offense is too good and too balanced to allow that to happen.
Lastly outside of a couple fumbles in the red zone we have been extremely efficient at getting TD's when we are that close. Oregon seemed to really struggle without having a guy who could punch it in from in close.

Could they? Yes, one game out of 100. Bama would win 41-3.
