IIED requires extraordinary conduct that "shocks the conscience" relative to the context of the workplace.
While this would clearly be extreme in an office setting, this behavior seems fairly commonplace in an NFL lockerroom.
Not open and shut by any stretch.

coach and GM know what's happening, do nothing, dude ends up in a treatment facility.
he ends up there from standard behavior from the team. it's not outrageous stuff from the dolphins
he's in the treatment facility b/c he's mentally unstable and lost his shite. did we blame the dolphins for brandon marshall doing the same? ricky williams? did we blame the raiders for barret robbins doing the same? no

I was being facetious, but the only way Martin gets paid is if he goes on Oprah to pimp his tell all memoir about how mean the NFL is and endears himself to a bunch of bored housewives

Workplace harassment.
does florida have some sort of "workplace harrassment" cause of action?
hostile work environments are almost always linked to racial, sexual, etc discrimination (that doesn't exist here)

pyle is a construct. he has no place in reality and no place in a discussion about reality
I would definitely disagree with your assessment.
Pyle is a reality, and occurs in a lot of peer group situations.
You have already shown you have no idea what bullying or hazing truly are.
What makes your assessment on this any different?

because i don't agree with a constantly shifting definition of both/either?
i have been bullied and hazed. i'm a better person for both

Or agreement to sequester evidence between Martin's attorneys, the NFLPA, and/or the Dolphins counsel.
Well, I'm no lawyer, but wouldn't that be the exact opposite of sequestering evidence by Martin's attorney?
Whoops. Meant disagreement.

Unless those 3 guys claimed their issues were as a result of teammates' actions, informed the GM of that, and the GM's response to all 3 of those guys was to tell them to resort to physical violence, then those are completely irrelevant comparisons.

I guess I've been out of sports too long, because this all seems like ridiculous bullshite to me. A little joking is one thing, but they were clearly harassing the hell out of this dude.

i already said flordia may have some whacky statutory cause of action, but i'm the one asking what they could sue under

what statute?
This is a florida attorney's blog

What's Not Illegal Harassment

If your boss is just a jerk or abusive, that is not illegal. And many small employers are not covered by these laws, so you may not be protected at all. Many employees have the mistaken belief that, if they are being harassed by their employer, a supervisor, or a co-worker or they are in a "hostile work environment" that they automatically have a claim against the employer. This is simply not the case.

his teammates seem to think it was standard
And of course the team will go against the guy who quit on the team, no surprise or motive to go against him there lol.
Furthermore, there are quite a few former players saying a lot of this stuff wasn't standard at all, which beings me back to my point we don't know so we shouldn't act like we do.
