the 3 corks thread

and their uses
1. The clamp on cork.Good to use in a pinch when fish go from bottom bite to mid level bite and back or so forth. Can put one on when tightlining a bait and take off just as easy
2. The popping cork.
Used to throw long distances.Best for windy conditions.Makes noises some say imitate feeding trout.
3. the Sliding cork
The hardest to use but the depths that can be fished under a sliding cork is limitless. Used for locating the depths fish are holding at.Suspended fish that like to hold 2' off the bottom this is the setup to use.

I like to go old school balsa wood when targeting bluegill, chinquapins, and white perch.
I like the look...

I also do this. Pull the green stob out, run line through the cut on the cork, and replace said stob. Easy and quick to adjust depth.

It's louder than the round floats is why I use it

Here's a new cork system coming on the market from a guy out of Louisiana - Northshore I think. I am told it will only be sold at Wal-Mart across the Gulf region. It comes in a 2-pack for like $6. I've seen it in person and it looks bad a$$. You can customize your sound and materials used inside the cork.

Big fish do not require corks, therefore I have none.

now,i've used popping corks like this before
Cups the water better making a bigger splash when popping but that particular cork is not a "sliding cork"

Do you use the sliding nail knot? Or a stopper?
Posted on 10/24/13 at 10:58 am to meauxjeaux2
It's similar to that but with out the wire leader. Use a cone sliding cork though

Thanks for the tutorial. I didn't even know what a cork was until this groundbreaking post.

That's the way my grandaddy taught me and I still do it sometimes. The main problem is it gets twisted up, especially in the wind. I normally use the popping corks and just retie to adjust.
Those clip-ons look like something I should stock up on.

Not really sure. I don't have any experience with a sliding cork.
The picture you posted shows a "sliding nail knot", while other things I have seen show a "bobber stopper". Just looking for some clarification.

gotcha. I like the string knot thingies. They go through the rod guides easier to me.
