Tableau and Mr. B's dont belong in same sentence as Emeril's and La Boca.

Not going to argue that, but the upstairs tables and family style dining at Delmonico's makes it really nice for large groups.

Tell those people to sack up and quit being little bitches. There are things that are somewhat safer, especially the charcuterie and some of the entrees.

Anyway...

Emeril's is great if you want to go that high-end.

The BBQ shrimp at Emeril's is a better executed and better sourced version than the one at Mr. B's. All based on same technique (or change in technique) developed by Gerard Maras way back in the late 80's early 90's.

The ones at Emeril's are pre-peeled if I remember correctly? And delicious.

emerils > la boca?

I like the head-on shell-on at Mr. Bs.

Totally different restaurants so I dont think they compare well. La Boca is my choice when I want a steak dinner, fries, provoleta, and lusty red wine. If you have a bunch of people with varying degrees of food comfort, Emeril's is probably a better bet as there is a wider range of food options.

Dining with a group of people you havent dined with before is the worst. If you suspect someone will be picky/wont to split bill up by what each person ordered/complain the whole time, dont waste your time or money going to a good place. It will just color your experience unfairly.

yea I know what you mean. Most of the time if they can't afford it, they will just buy a app.

I don't think it will be much of a issue (hopefully).

We did sobou with a small group last year and it wasn't a issue at all and had a group at annunciation before I left.. yea i'm overthinking it haha

Emeril's would be a great place for a festive gathering. And, definitely get the BBQ shrimp app if you're craving that flavor. It's excellent and easy to make at home, as well. The andouille crusted fish is my favorite entree. I've been to Emeril's a number of times. Always a fine meal. Has a celebratory atmosphere in my opinion.

Skip Tableau. My parents went and thought it was just okay. Probably won't go back. Wasn't bad, but just wasn't anything to write home about. The place is nice and the balcony dining is neat in nice weather, but the food was just not good enough for a repeat visit.

We had a fabulous meal at Delmonico in April. It was only my second time there and the first time was Easter brunch. Both times were excellent. It's on my list for a return visit. If people are giving it poor reviews, I'd like to know why. I'm still thinking about that meal...the hors d'oeuvres we had with cocktails, the apps, the entrees and the dessert.

A friend said that most of the table got some fish plates and they weren't good at all.

Its another Dickie Brennan spot. I wouldn't imagine it is much different from the others.
