Myshkin: SHitty articles reflect poorly on Rabalais

I think people leaving early is the problem.

Look, something original from Scott.
This hasn't been hashed out in at least the last hour.

Making former free parking WAAAAAY too expensive for the common fan, reflects poorly on LSU.
Why does paid parking in these lots and the newer ones, have to be $50-75 per game? Why not $20-25???
LSU has gotten too big of a head with all of this

He reads Tigerdroppings and then writes an article about what he reads

Why doeople mention price of everything when a lot of empty seats are from leaving early. They already paid. If anything, if value were the goal, you would think they would stay till after to get their money's worth.

If you're too poor to pay $50 a few times each fall, then I'm not sure you can afford the cost to tailgate and go to the game also. Furthermore, there are free parking areas if you're willing to walk just a little bit.

They leave early because they wear themselves out from standing the whole time.
And because they suck.
And because they suck.

they have to leave at the half to reach their cars 3 miles from the stadium by the time the game is over, also they are probably tired from the long walk. not worth the $40 i pay to park, even though i think LSU is a arse for charging that much.

quote:It won't. LSU fans love to get on their soapboxes and boast about how they are the greatest fanbase in the world, and nobody else comes close. Tiger Stadium is the most raucous stadium, etc. We flame and spam and troll any national media outlet that dares to list us anywhere below #1.
Make it stop
Given that as a backdrop, you then get many, MANY games where the stadium has big stretches of open seating on full display, captured on television. Our responses/excuses- not a big game; game is a blowout; it's too early; it's too hot/cold/rainy; traffic/parking is terrible. And, of course, the "frick you, it's my money" justifications.
We (LSU fans) come across as drunken, idiot braggarts who puff out their chests but don't have any heart. I can only imagine what fans of northern teams who get snow late in the season would say.
Would this be an issue if we were just a "normal" fanbase? Nope; but since we all insist we be credited as the greatest fans of all time, don't be surprised as this gets made into a bigger story before it goes away.

Most of what Rabalais notes are legit (especially the TV factor - you no longer have to be inside TS to see the Tigers play).
What he fails to mention is how the current Admin has done next-to-nothing to promote and preserve the things that made TS special (crowd noise and night games) and the introduction of things that make it just another stadium (e.g., piped-in music) and even militate against the things that do make it special.
I love TS. For this old Tiger, going to watch LSU play now is just as special as it was my first game in '70. And it was a little disherartening to see such a lame crowd vs UF.

It is not just LSU. We need to have a playoff system where many teams feel they still have a chance at the end of season to win it all. Who cares about these garbage Bowl games after your team loses 1 or 2 games and you are out of it.

we have had season tickets for 20 years now.
Over the last few years the pregame and post game traffic has gotten significantly worse. Couple that with the changes in on campus parking it has become a much less enjoyable experience each year.
I have been going to LSU games since the late 70s and since 2003 the sheer number of people on campus on game day has seemed to increase by many times. Even in 2003 when we weren't tailgating we could leave home 2 hours before kickoff - get there park and walk in - and be in our seats LONG BEFORE the band took the field and that included a couple of stops along the way...
In that same time each year subtle changes have happened to the fan base - making it less enjoyable each year.
No we likely won't give up our tickets, but we may end up just selling them.
As for the heat... no hotter than some other early season games.......A lot of folks going to the game now like to see and be seen then bolt. Hey.. they paid so be it.
We are a spoiled lot...always have been.
LSU needs to fix the traffic problem before the stadium expansion is completed but.. then again at what point is too much enough?
Two top ten teams - and 15k no shows... that's over a hundred K in ticket purchases thrown away...
the now shows don't affect LSU except in concession sales....
all in all.. if this doesn't get LSU off it's behind nothing will..
maybe they know... X people will still pay... and Z people will show up no matter what...
I remember in the last game curly coached looking around and seeing 15 k or more empty seats... against a cusa team.....that got him fired........
but college football and LSU have indeed changed a great deal in the 20 years since then.
I never thought I would say this.. but nowadays.. especially with some of those sitting around me and on campus now.. I would rather be home...

day games will be the norm whilst we are good..
btw one of the more raucus crowds ever.. has been for BAMA DAY GAMES..
funny thing is when we weren't very good... tiger stadium was a much more enjoyable place.. and wilder.... but nothing about sucking something..
