The Myth of Tony Romo Tony Romo is a decent QB...he's just not the one that can lead Dallas to a Super Bowl.
There's not a QB in the league that would have led a Dallas team to the Superbowl in the last 4-5 years.
That's the point. Stop saying we can't win because of Romo. There's a million other reasons we can't win and he's not one of them.

If Drew Brees is a God and goes 7-9 with that many INTs, why is Romo expected to win a Superbowl with a similar squad, even though you know, he's not on Brees's level?
Were the squads that similar? Drew Brees literally had the worst d in NFL history last season. I'm not saying Brees is above criticism. He had a shaky year last season. And who is expecting Romo to win a SB with any squad? Most people in this thread said they don't expect him to win a SB at all.

Dude gets held to a double standard more than just about anybody, because he's the QB of the Cowboys
I'm not saying he doesn't. Cowboys fans typically make it easy to criticize him though. Just look at this thread.

How about comparing our team stats to y'all's. you didn't finish far behind us in total defense and actually ahead of us in rushing.
Our Coach is Jason fricking Garrett.
It's a fair comparison.

I hate the Cowboys, but I think you're lying if you say there are 8-10 qbs in the NFL you would rather have on your team than him. There are many QBs that have appeared in/won super bowls that are worse than Romo. Unfortunately for him, the fumbled snap in his first year set the stage for the anti clutch, choker narrative, and has left him a huge mountain to climb regardless of his positives. Playing for "Americas Team" doesn't help either

Probably because everyone would just throw on us since we had no rush and couldn't cover anyone.

Oh my bad. I was just under the impression that for one to choke, it would mean he fell completely short of winning it all. Since the only argument most people have is that he hasn't won a Superbowl. After numbers are provided time after time that he is very comparable to the guys most call "Elite." Oh but no superbowls. Not on Brees level.

No, just means he doesn't perform in high pressure situations.

You seriously think he is on Brees' level? If you had to choose between the 2, you'd pick Romo? Come on, man. Like I said, I don't hate Romo but he certainly isn't on the Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Brady level.
You certainly are an angry man.

The thing with Romo (and other QB's like him) is that in this era of the pass and endless amounts of pro-QB regulations/protection stats are inflated. Over the last 15 or so years 4,000 yards has become the new 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns the new 20. I'd put Romo in the same category as Matt Ryan, both are good quarterbacks, both are capable of getting a team with the right makeup to a Super Bowl, but neither are game-changing elite guys like Brees, Brady, or Manning who can an otherwise carry average team on their backs.

Finally, something we agree on.

exactly. it's a bunch of bullshite. i feel bad for him and lebron. if they win big games, they're sucked off. if they lose, they're crucified

No he's performed very well in high pressure situations he's had 19 game winning drives. Another 4-5 where we missed a FG that would have won. So, I'm not sure what you're saying. I guarantee you every QB in the league that you call Elite has shite the bed more than once in pressure situations. Peyton Manning used to be the choker, remember that?

I don't think the difference is as much as you want to believe. He's outplaying 2 of the 4 you mentioned right now.

how does making a valid argument make me angry? Am I just supposed to submit and agree? Or else I'm "angry?"

When you're a fan of a team that's been fortunate enough to have someone like Brees as your QB for a long time you tend to undervalue other signal callers in the league. There are a lot of mediocre to downright awful starting quarterbacks in this league and Romo is certainly not amongst them.

Based on him choking in the 4th quarter when it matters the most.
This could be known as choking a game away
INTs in last 3 min of 1-score games since '06: Eli 15 (220 att.), Brees 13 (234), Roethlisberger 13 (249), Flacco 7 (136), Romo 7 (272)

hmmmmmm what do all of those guys have in common except for Romo
But yeah, all the blame lies on Romo. Crappy QBs like Jeff Hostetler and Trent Dilfer have rings, but Romo doesn't have "it"

Is no one going to address how he's played in the playoffs?
Posted on 10/9/13 at 3:53 pm to Finkle is Einhorn
This all stems from him botching that hold on the extra point in the playoff game a while back. He's been labeled a choker ever since.

I think he's a little better than good. 5 Qbs have ever thrown for 500 yds a 5 tds in a game and he is one of them
Matt Flynn threw for 480 and 6 TDs in a game. He is out if a job right now. This stat means sh*t.
