He got all pissy in another thread about it too.
Fun Bunch- Have you even seen the movie? You need to take it down a notch.

I'm pretty pumped for this, it looks like an excellent film, however...
That's a bold statement from Scott, who is both reserved in praise generally and knowledgeable about film history.

It just amazes me that some people will be completely unaware of this formula and actually go see this movie for the plot only to be severely disappointed. Those same people will bitch and moan about how "terrible" the movie was and then start multiple threads regarding their opinion and we will all have the pleasure of sifting through them on a daily basis.
What part of this movie makes you think that it will be some sort of CGI extravaganza will little to no plot? Most of the movie is about a women who floats off into space. I'm sure they will have room to squeeze a plot in there somewhere.

It wasn't that great. The movie moved along at a good rate but did have times where it lulled. I thought it was a good movie, but wouldn't pay to see it again. Did not see it in 3D. I did see some scenes where it did look like the 3D could be awesome though.

Advanced screening in my area. Saw it Tuesday night.
The science didn't always make sense either. That might not matter for some, but I do think about that during scifi movies.

I'm not even remotely angry or pissy. I just think your opinion is dumb.

Actual astronaughts who have seen it completely disagree. I'm just saying.
I haven't seen it. So I can't say, just going by what I've heard.

I will say they got alot of the science right, but the few things they didn't just stuck out to me.
Finally glad a movie is shown where they accurately portray outerspace as a vaccum with no sound.

How many movies have you seen that have one setting? If you never move for 90 minutes, it's gonna get stale.

Without getting into spoiler territory (and I have avoided most spoilers), they move. A lot.

They are at 109 reviews, still at 98%.

This movie will more than likely be The Social Network of 2013. Gravity will get plenty of Oscar nominations but I still think 12 Years a Slave wins it all this year.

I've been seeing tons of hyperbole just like this for this film.
I think they are talking from a technical level, which very well might be the case (if you've followed how they made the film at all).
Posted on 10/3/13 at 2:11 pm to Fun Bunch
yeah, they should say cinematography or production if that's the case
Posted on 10/3/13 at 2:11 pm to Fun Bunch
The so-called "top critics" are being very hyperbolic. 26 fresh reviews on RT among the cream of the crop, with an average rating of 9.3/10.
