For me, it means a mustard-based concoction with diced dill pickles and maybe some cauliflower with some other veggies. If you have a recipe, please share.

Spicy sweet cabbage, onions, green tomatoes and peppers that have been canned for use as a condiment with vegetables.

I don't have a definition of it but the chow chow they make at Cochon Butcher in New Orleans is really good.

Something my mom loves and I find quite revolting. Mustardy stuff she puts on sandwiches.

It is a tomato relish that is in our fridge, made by the wife for sometimes addition to her purple hull peas, but never eaten by me.

Anyone who wants my ration card should they ever ration the stuff can have it.

Added to add it is the vinegar in it I do not care for. I'm not a big fan of acetic acid.

Basically a homemade pepper relish that my mom used to make with jalapeños, cayennes, & whatever other pepper was in the garden...

This was the ingredient list on the chow chow I grew up with in New Orleans, it was made by Zatarain's:

Zatarain's Chow Chow contained water, pickle relish (cucumbers, vinegar, salt, alum, turmeric, sodium benzoate preservative), vinegar, yellow mustard seed, salt, turmeric, propylene glycol, soybean oil, and yellow No. 5 (color).

The relish was not a sweet relish but more dilled.

In other words, basically mustard and dill relish.
