I'm glad I got to see him in Boston a few months ago. I can't believe his career is over.
Seems like just yesterday when Jeter, Mo, AP and the boys won the 96 World Series. Dude is the GOAT

I read an article a few years back about a lunch with Jeter, Mo, AP, and Posada all eating lunch together. They said in all the time they had spent together, it was the first time the 4 of them had ever spent a lunch alone together. It was a great article about them reflecting on their careers as each one of them realized it would soon come to an end. Not sure we will see something special like that again in my life time.

I actually started to like the Yankees there for a second. I feel dirty just typing that.
Very cool though.

Wow, that's awesome right there. I dislike the Yanks, but I've always respected the hell out of those guys (esp. Mariano). It's kind of surreal seeing it all come to an end now.

Great theater. Whole family watched and my kids said Mo has been there forever and yeah he has. Moving

Did they put him down after the game?

I know it's a joke, but really? Guy is truly one of the GOATS who did it the right way. Classy as frick and went out on top.

Delmon young almost jacked his first pitch for a 3 run shot. Wanted to see that so badly
Pretty cool to see a player go out like that

There's no crying in baseball.

New York Post said best closure in baseball.

Was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. Been watching this guy as a Yankees fan pitch since I was 14 years old (now 33). Perfect farewell last night.
Hopefully he pitches Sunday in Houston...I'll be there! I'm gonna turn into a big cry baby again tho.

Disagree, it is going to take them a while to get over it.

I've been trying to think of a comp for Rivera, and the closest I can come up with is Stan Musial. Players worship him not just for his talent, but for the person he is. He is genuinely beloved.
Even a dedicated Yankee Hater such as myself will tip his cap to the great Mo. I'll miss watching him pitch.
