Hogs

I am dealing with hogs for the first time this year. I put a trap out Sunday to try and catch some. A buddy of mine told me a fish and wildlife agent suggested breaking up clay pigeons, putting syrup or molasses on them and hogs will eat them. Within a day or two the hog will be dead. The agent said normally the deer will not fool with the clay pigeons. Y'all ever heard of that?

Kill 'em all.
I have heard that before but don't know if it's true or not.

I've heard of that before. Never tried it though and not sure how to know it works unless you trap them and then they eat the cp and dies in trap

I've heard the same thing but never tried it. We are constantly trying to kill them off of our place in SW LA. However, after a while of hunting them those hogs get more spooky than a mature whitetail doe.
I hate to say it, but they're gonna be really tough to get rid of. They are smart and breed like rabbits.

It is BS. Hogs eat anything and everything. venting their brain box, heart, or lungs are about the only way you are going to kill one.

You can do the same thing with chunks of memory foam mattress. It also kill coyotes.

there are two good ways of getting rid of them (temporarily)
large coral traps setup and baited correctly
and
chase dogs and guns/knives
still hunting will never kill enough.

I've seen cows eat the ceramic high voltage line insulators, older guys described it as "cow crack" and were adamant about storing them at least 10 ft from the fence line.

Personally I'd love to trap some but it is more convenient to shoot them.
Once the cooler weather gets here, I'll be stocking the freezer.

Need someone to come take a few out on a weekend?

Sat in a ranch management course at TCU once and prof brings in a big box of assorted junk. rubber bungee straps, bailing wire, grocery bags, parts of a babydoll, line insulators, a boot spur, a belt with a buckle in place, a part of hoe handle, a baseball cap, etc.
dumps it out and notes that all of that was found in healthy cows stomachs at processing.

No , hogs are smart, like German Shepard smart. Don't underestimate their brain and your hunting will improve.

That's an insult to hogs. They are much smarter than that.

Can you explain for us how you build and setup the large coral traps. I want to try this, but don't want to waste my time if I do it wrong.
