everyone who was watching was yelling for him to spike the ball so the offense could get set

The offense was set, the OL just didn't block well enough. And let's pretend we did spike it and ran the play with time stopped instead of running. Assuming the play transpired as it did, Conley still would've caught the tipped ball and run out of time anyway. Spiking it had absolutely no bearing on the ending.

If the OL had blocked and the pass is complete, people would say Richt is a genius because bama was on their heels and wasn't ready and we went for the throat. But since it didnt' work he's an idiot I guess. Just like the AU/LSU game with d.byrd. It worked so yaaaayyy!!!!!! but if it fails fire everybody.

I reality I would say that last year's Carolina game was a big game and Mett won that one. It had much more at stake than Clemson game.

Murray is good, but he's more of a product of UGA just not being able to get over the hill. I thought they really were gonna beat Bama last yr.

This is a tough game, mainly because I need to see LSU close people out and after last week showing how quickly two deep passes can get a team right back in the game, I'd say UGA will easily be in the game until the end.

I'd say it's a toss up at this point. And I love this LSU team. Uga is tough at home.

Ha, I would have no problem saying that as I love LSU just as much as UGA. What I'm saying is that you were wrong.

LSU has won 4 of the last 7 and is 16-12-1 overall.

All games
2011/12/03 LSU 42 - Georgia 10 W ** SEC CHAMPIONSHIP **
2009/10/03 LSU 20 - Georgia 13 W
2008/10/25 LSU 38 - Georgia 52 L
2005/12/03 LSU 14 - Georgia 34 L ** SEC CHAMPIONSHIP **
2004/10/02 LSU 16 - Georgia 45 L
2003/12/06 LSU 34 - Georgia 13 W ** SEC CHAMPIONSHIP **
2003/09/20 LSU 17 - Georgia 10 W

Should be a good game, but we have no reason to be scared.

What's Mett's record in big games?

ATM-win
Alabama-loss
Clemson-loss

Not counting then-unbeaten and #2-ranked South Carolina last year as a big game is misstating things, IMO. And including Clemson as a big game is definitely misstating things. Nobody at LSU considered that a big game. It was a shitty bowl against a no-name opponent and nobody cared one whit about it. Also, I think Florida last year should count as a big game. So, Mett has lost twice as a starter in big games. One of those was Alabama last year, when he threw for about 300 yards and we would have won except for terrible mistakes that were not his, and not his fault.

Seems to me Mett has shown up pretty well in big games.

And to say we haven't given up 30 points in the last 4 years is silly. This is 2013, not 2011.

I agree to a point, but past performances are at least somewhat relevant when predicting a future one. If they weren't, we'd have no way to predict who would win if Alabama played Savannah State in a season opener.

meh, we haven't really played a QB like Aaron Murray this year. Sure, he can move a little. But, we don't have to worry about them running the spread. That alone will change our entire defensive attack. IMO, nothing we've seen about our defense can be projected into this game.

Our DEs don't have to worry about containment any more, along with our LBs. So, we'll be able to attack more. Better pressure on the QB is going to make our DBs look way better too.

We're going to shock people and dominate with our D.

You say this, but UGA hasn't faced a QB like Mett this year either. Connor Shaw and Tajh Boyd are two of the best running QBs in college football and Mett is a complete statue. There were quite a few plays where Shaw escaped pressure and made a big play on third down, and Mett won't be able to do that.

Also, while the top of LSU's receiving core is great and better than UGA's, UGA has a much deeper receiving core. Landry and Beckham have a combined 44 catches, the next closest receiver has 3. And no one has a receiving touchdown besides Beckham and Landry. UGA has 5 players with at least 7 catches and 6 players have receiving touchdowns for them, and this is all in one less game than LSU.

I agree except that people here are trying to say South Carolina is not a big win for Georgia.

Agree. Throw out Murray's games in bowls games as well.

Agree

we would have won except

Now we sound like Tennessee fans.

not his fault.

If Mett is better, we score a TD on the last drive instead of missing a FG (I know this is stupid to say. Just as stupid as the things folks are saying about Murray).

To some (maybe not you) UGA's losses are Murray's fault.

Looks like pics of men are more your thing. Have at it.

That said, I hate Murray. Punk POS.

I will be at the game in purple and gold.

But since I live here, I actually watch and follow UGA football unlike most of the blowhards on the rant who get all their info from espn and this site.

Just don't want to sound like the typical idiot rantard.

Move the game to Jacksonville or the Georgia Dome. Works virtually every time.

Chavis is 10-6 as a defensive coordinator against Georgia

The Bulldogs have struggled offensively in their last two matchups with LSU, managing 274 yards in a 20-13 loss at Athens in 2009 and 296 yards in the 42-10 humbling at the 2011 SEC championship game.

DTF!!! Apparently you haven't heard...I'm never wrong and I'm super humble too. Ask my wife. It's all good, DTF, I know UGA is a great program and that the game could go either way. It's fun debating all the nonsense though.

And how many of our players are playing this Saturday that were in that game?

Same question. And our 2011 team was being lauded as one of the greatest of all time.

This is 2013.

Always hate when poeple use this agrument. For example, LSU has won 2 in a row, 4 of the last 7 and 7 of the last 13. But Georgia's won 6 of 10. It's a lazy argument; its too easy to make it say what you want it to say.

UGA scored 35 points or more only once aginst Chavis during the Mark Richt Era, and that was in 2003, probably the best team Richt has had. I did not look at anything before the Richt era, but I bet that UGAs offensive numbers againts the Chief were even worse back then.

This just sounds so idiotic. We aren't even talking about the same teams. And you are going back 10 years.

Sooooo, LSU "D" gives up 21 to a very mediocre AU offense and you're going to hold Georgia below 35'ish how? Seriously, no kool-aid? #6 total offense vs. #24 total defense after having played a much better schedule... + GA has won 3 of the last 5, and likely would have been 4 of last 6 had you played last season. I see repreat of 2008.

We can win this game, but Georgia will put up points.
