People leave early because its not the same

as it was 30+ years ago. When I was a kid growing up (I'm 48)LSU games were not televised like they are today. Maybe once or twice if lucky. No ESPN carrying 5 games at once etc... People got in that stadium and wanted to savor every last second of being there and seeing the team.
The crush of media has taken much of the mystic away. I'm not complaining because it has also allowed me to see almost every game if I cant be there in person. However, I do kinda' miss listening to the games on the radio. That was also something that todays fans miss out on. Since practically every game is televised, unless you happen to be driving somewhere, you are not going to be listening to the game on the radio. Hearing that stadium erupt on an AM radio and John Ferguson calling the game was special.
How many of you remember going to the games back then when there were no "TV Timeouts"? The game had pace and swings in momentum were more intense because the teams didn't have to stand around and wait for the cameras to come back before the next series.
Todays fans are different and its because of media. Not bad fans... just different from the ones going to games a generation ago.

I predict different people post different opinions in this new, fresh, insightful thread.

People these days are too plugged into their phones and bullshite to worry about a game. Back then you had nothing to divert your attention, it was a very intimate and enveloping experience to be in Tiger Stadium with thousands of your best friends for night. Now it's just filler for a little while until they decide to go do something else for the night.

You're a bad fan for missing games

I also live in Georgia and have a wife and 4 kids. I do wish I could get back more often though.

This! I'm only 25 and can remember games being very different when I went as a kid. It definitely has an effect on the pace of a game.

Having internet service inside the stadium would help this

I meant texting.

As opposed to this one of a kind response that adds so much to the topic. Well done!

Kinda proves his point.. this thread has nothing to do with leaving early.

Exactly. Next time pay attention when they show the student section. Literally 6 out of 10 kids are on a cell phone. Probably texting or playing with Instagram.

Well one of my responses added a bit to the subject so I'll consider that an accomplishment on this board. Haha
