I'm not buying all the Seahawks hype

So the Seahawks are coming off a very unimpressive 12-7 win against one of the NFL's worst teams and yet they are at or near the top of everyone's power rankings and people won't stop talking about how good they are. I'm not saying they aren't good, in fact I think they are, but it seems silly for people to already putting them in the same category as the Broncos, Saints, Niners, etc. If they beat SF next week that'll be a huge win for them, but until then I'm not ready to crown them just yet.

West coast team playing against Cam in Carolina and holding them to 7 is pretty good in my book.

I think Wilson is the real deal and will get going soon

Yeah, that's a loooong road trip. The players aren't used to that kind of heat and humidity either. I'd say it was a pretty good win everything considered. A west coast team playing an early game on the east coast is almost always a loss

He had a great season, and I think he's a solid QB but let's not forget it's his second season. Look what happened with RG3 yesterday, and where Cam Newton is at now. A lot of players have great rookie seasons and then sink into slumps.

while there wasn't anything impressive about that win, at least they won a road game to start off with.
that was something they have struggled to do the last few years under Carroll. They've been a mediocre road team so if they can improve on that then yeah, you would have to call them an elite team.
I think the 49ers take them down at home this week fwiw though....

I don't really want to get into this but based on Week 1 only the Saints certainly deserve to be mentioned in that group...

Carolina has a good defense and pass rush, and Wilson looked great despite scoring only 12 points.
Holding Cam to 7 points was also impressive considering Browner, Clemons, and Avril didn't play.
The noon start time (eastern time) game was also a really early start for West Coast team like Seattle, usually that's tough to adjust to.

they will go 7-1 or 8-0 at home. all they need to do is win 3 road games.
btw, only 27% of teams win those coast to coast games as visitors. that was an impressive win.

Nothing like some more overreactions. You fit in well over here.

I agree with you on the missing personnel.
but I remain a big skeptic of Mike Shula, the Carolina OC. He is a very conservative play caller. Newton really didn't throw the ball all that much.
Williams had an alright game running the ball but he had that BIG fumble late in the game as Carolina was driving in to try and regain the lead...

nonsense
SF looked like the best team in week 1
Saints beat a rival they usually play very well

I think Wilson is going to fight harder to keep his eyebrow than Kap.

So one close win and the Saints are a team to beat but the Seahawks going in and winning a game that is essentially at 9 am for them (and against a decent team) isn't impressive?
I mean, I love the Saints but come on. Give some credit to the Seahawks for doing well in a not close to ideal situation.

yeah the Seahawks only use local players.

For the west coast teams traveling east they really shouldn't play the early game slot. It is terrible for their fans and the players
Posted on 9/10/13 at 11:57 pm to benhamin5555
Their offense was a lot more impressive than the score would indicate and allowing only 7 points on the road against any team with a pulse is impressive.
I'm feeling better about the game this Sunday than I was last week but they aren't going to fall flat on their faces. They're worthy of the hype.
