Got into recruiting when Rusell Shepard committed. Haven't been following recruiting for very long.

Daaaammmnn! Billy Cannon. That was a while ago. You sir, are a true Tiger faithful. It was Dalton for me. Graduated same year, 1982. Followed him and Jerry Butler. Butler graduated earlier, '80 or '81, can't remember, and went to SLU.

Gregg Dubroc and Shawn Bailey from John Curtis. I was working with Shawn's Uncle and I knew everything that was going on. Gregg did ok at LSU but Shawn got injured and never did anything. When Shawn signed with LSU and Pete Jenkins I was supposed to go to the Signing Party. The next day after Shawn signed his Uncle said that he had screwed up really bad. At the Signing Party they wanted to know why I did not show up and his Uncle said that he got busy at work and forgot to invite me. Thats when everyone started Signing on the First Saturday in December and could sign anytime leading up to National Signing Day. At that time Blue Chip Magazine was the Recruiting Source. Both Dubroc and Bailey were Blue Chippers and I guess now would be 4 or 5 Stars.

Marcus Spears.

He was the #1 ranked Tight End. Ha. That will always be my favorite class. Ben Wilkerson, michael Clayton, marquise hill...

Ronald Curry. Was kind of a big deal as the top recruit in football and basketball especially here inVA. When he flipped from UVA to UNC it was epic around here. This was before flipping became a common occurence. Also Curry is still tge best player I've seen in person. Kid was something special in hs.

This is exactly who I was thinking of! Remember how excited I was when we got his commitment. He was good but never All American caliber.

Marquise Hill and the rest of the 01 class that won us our title.

He trolled us all year. Said he was leaning Michigan, then picked LSU and said it was LSU all along and he just wanted to frick with people.

Can only imagine how the Recruiting Board would have handled that one.

Thanks Scott Bailey!! I was thinking about Shawn Burks I guess. I remember when he signed also and there was no fan fare and he was not even rated a Blue Chip or Red Chip at the time but did great at LSU. Thanks for correcting me!! That has been a long time ago!!
