i don't even get how you can decide whether to swing.
but the pace of the pitching is so great. i wish all professional baseball games were this fast.

It seems really difficult, but it's not as hard as it seems to decide to swing in time.
You pretty much decide right when you see it leave the hands. You can tell where it's going.

Yeah this just reassured me that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports.

Looked like a curveball on the first pitch, inside fastball on the 2nd
Slider on the 3rd and fastball on 4th/5th

I caught for some guys in high school that threw 89, 90.
It slows down after you've seen it a few times.

I love that view by the way. When watching the video, my brain was telling me to swing or lay off.
The pitch that the batter swung at was the one that right when I saw it leave his hands I was like "money".
It just looks right immediately.

From what my friends that are baseball fans say, I was expecting it to look faster.

Yeah, I have always heard something about the best hitters can "train" their eyes somehow.

It really does. After seeing pitches like that thousands of times you can tell very quickly if a fastball is going to be a strike or close enough that you should swing at it.

The speed isn't what is hard to hit if it's flat. It's the speed with movement.
I played in high school and my brother plays in college. I've gone to hit with his teammates before, and they have a guy who throws 98.
I went to hit off of him and it wasn't as fast as I was expecting. I didn't do well, but that is because I suck arse. It wasn't too fast for me to get around on.

on the first pitch, you can tell from his arm angle that it's a curve. in the second, the delivery is a bit different.

At the risk of sounding like a douche Internet badass...
I saw all of those pretty clearly, I guess when you play baseball your whole life that's just a skill you develop

i believe it. i played till i was like 15, so the highest i saw was maybe 80. maybe. that was pretty clear to me, so i guess it's just one of those repetition things. still pretty cool for your normal joe to see from that perspective.

Also we are seeing it after the camera sees it and processes it and records it. Our eyes 20/20 would be far clearer and discerning seeing it live and first person

I really enjoyed that it was my favorite prospect in the game hitting.
That's AA pitching, by the way. Just imagine how much nastier it gets at the major league level.

The speed of the fastballs aren't much different but the movement, and especially the control, is on a different level. I took a couple of ABs against Barry Zito 3 years ago and his 12-6 curve froze my arse every single time!

He was in the minors a lot, played some in the MLB, but was a fringe player.
Well he was long retired when he was my coach, and during batting practice he would throw the nastiest curve balls ever.
I remember thinking wow, if his curves are that nasty, I can only imagine what the best pitchers in the majors are like.

Then that should make pitching a baseball the easiest thing to do in sports
