He likes a good steak but La Boca and Mr Johns are closed. Anything open Sunday that would be a good venue? Doesn't have to be steak but the only seafood he eats is fish.

Went to Clancys on Saturday night and enjoyed it. Do not if they are opened on Sunday though.

I would pick Ruth's Chris on Poydras. I thinking sitting in the outdoor area facing Fulton would be great.
I'm sorry, but I will never eat at Mortons or Besh Steakhouse unless it is being paid for on a business expense account.

Chophouse. get the carpaccio then the cajun Delmonico w/ side of creamed spinach and definitely check out their wine list which is solid.

Oh I much perfer Ruth's (downtown) as well. It just appeared that the OP was going for something a little different.

Wonder what places are open on Labor Day? Might push it back a day. Thanks for the responses. We eat at Ruth's a lot, may try Chophouse. Never been.

So that place is good?
I certainly liked it. Good atmosphere and service as well. I haven't been to a whole lot of steakhouses in Nola, but it's better than Desi Vega's and Morton's and blows Stroube's in BR out of the water.

This is a bit different, but Maximo's is a thought. Their Salumi course is very interesting and something most meat eaters would kill for...
Then either carpaccio or lamb ribs depending on your above choices. Then something like an Osso Buco or whatever. Here's the menu:

Duck Pastrami - Housemade, brined, seasoned and air dried duck breast
Sopressata Calabrese - Spicy, firm, coarsely ground and air dried Calabrian pork
Porchetta Ariccia - Boneless, fatty pork roast, from its Roman province of origin
Speck - Cured, seasoned, cold smoked pig leg from Alto Adige
Bressaola - Dry seasoned and air dried beef of Lombardia

If La Boca is closed, this is the best bet.
Chances are your dad has been to Ruth's, so try Chophouse. It's a first rate steakhouse, with better sides then most places.
Do not go to Morton's, or you will need a pillow. Boring place/menu.
Bring your wallet to Chophouse, it's pricey.

Interesting. I told my Dad the other day that I thought I heard it wasn't all that great. Oopsie.

thanks for posting this .. think you just convinced me to check it out. never really hear anything about it, but sounds in theory at least that it's got good things happening - now to see if they can execute it.

Well I've only been once so my opinion isn't the authority on the place by any means. Everyone has their own take on restaurants, could have been the people you heard that from know better than I do. Either way it's a place worth visiting, especially if he's a steakhouse lover.

What about Emeril's Delmonico?

Hey, maybe you'll see Tom Fitz there!! I agree, I rarely hear much about Maximo's, it's in the Quarter.... Beware.
I'm hitting A Mano Friday for a last meal. I heard they are going all out until the end. Uncle went last night and said it was his best meal there.

FYI All of the food at Maximo's (except the Osso Bucco) is 1/2 off on Tuesdays. I almost went last night, but opted for Lola instead.
