lets say hypothetically JFF tells schad directly that he took money. that's immediately discredited because it came from schad? it's an exaggeration, but that's basically what you're saying
uhh, not even close.
I am saying Schad and Rovell have a very bad history with their anonymous sources.
They have been caught completely making things up to jazz up their stories and been fooled by people they didn't bother to properly vet.
If Johnny goes to a reporter and says he did it, well then he did it.
But when a reporter who has a history like these two uses anonymous sources (who themselves are shady to begin with) and can't release a video he claims to have seen that implies something went down, it should send up quite a few red flags that all may not be as they claim.
Have you not looked into what they did to Mike Leach? That alone should make them suspect and its not the only time they have been caught spinning a web of lies.

Well Schad's source on Leach wasn't anonymous at all.

That was a lot bigger than Joe Schad

Schad with Leach was not all anonymous, that is true.
Instead his sources were Adam James and a PR firm hired by Craig James.
He didn't even bother to ask the coaching staff what happened before he went to air.
and considering how ESPN seemed to let its employees run their own personal witch hunt without true repercussions it certainly throws their overall reliability into question.

Look, this kind of stuff is so widespread, when allegations come up they're probably true. Its kind of like baseball and steroids. Where there is smoke there is fire
At the end of the day though, all that matters is whether or not there is concrete proof, which might not be there for Manziel just like it wasn't there for Newton

I'm not saying he didn't do it either. I don't know one way or the other.
I'm just saying that the reporters who claim to have the sources have a spotty history at best when it comes to reporting the truth.

My point was that he probably did it. The thing is, its not about whether he did or didn't, its about whether or not there's proof. It's very similar to baseball players and steroids IMO like guys like McGwire and Bonds, if that makes sense

I hope they nail johnny hancock, he is a smug prick that thinks no one can touch him, and rules don't apply.

Like a lot of others he got paid IMO. But the NCAA will never be able to prove it. And he'll certainly benefit from the NCAA being gun shy over the Miami snafu.

This is all fair of you to have this point of view.
I am curious, however... how would you feel about all of this if this was pointed at AJ MCcarron or Mett or Hill? Would you still be preaching level-headed logic, or would you be latching on to the story?
I think all parties are doing exactly what is natural in this situation:
- Johnny Football is cashing in while he can.
- Johnny Football's friend/handler/pimp is making tons of money off of his friend.
- Reporters are reporting just enough truth to keep themselves out of hot water and just enough sensationalism to sell some ad space.
- aTm fans are all pissed at the media and opposing fan bases for attacking good ole Johnny Football.
- Opposing fan bases are buying everything the media is putting out there because it's fun to pick on Aggie.
- NCAA is appearing to investigate but will end up delaying and screwing everything up just long enough to let ESPN sell a lot of ad space/time while covering this story.
Anyway, that's how I see it.

He's guilty. I feel for the A&M fans who have wasted gobs of hours of their last 8 months trying to come to his defense, as if it will matter in any meaningful way.

Decision on JFF from NCAA will come tomorrow, per the SECRant

The guy obviously got paid for autographs. Anyone who disagrees is being willfully ignorant.
The only question that remains is will the ncaa be able to gather enough proof (or do they even want to?) to discipline him. I doubt it.

So you think he signed all that shite for free?
Whether he signed them for free or got paid he was still breaking NCAA rules when the brokers started selling them. It only matter with regard to how many games he would be suspended for.

Wait until the IRS investigates.
"Where did the money for the new rims come from?"
"Daddy."
"Okay, Mr. Manziel. Let's have a look at your records."

Nothing to investigate, he doesn't have to file the taxes until 2014.

I guaran fricken tee you that if A and M beats BAMA, they will find evidence that he is guilty. Watch. If Bama wins, they find nothing.

with or without Penziel A&M has no shot at beating bama back to back yrs. Sabin would tear down his own statue.

if it was being reported by two guys who have such a spotty history I would for sure question it.
