Excuse me for being an a-hole for asking,
You don't need to asked to be excused. You're doing a fine job already.

If that were the case, you would've known to do this on your youtube tutorial. You obviously just read what I posted and regurgitated it.
I had a bunch of left over bullets and powder after Sandy Hook happened and had a surplus of primers for my 223 loads. I wanted to load 9mm so I used them.
My videos were made pre-Sandy Hook and I had not done it before. I didn't want to give advice on something I had never done before.

Why was it ok for you to do, but not him?
Xenon said it well. I figured it wouldn't be a problem but I wanted to go "by the book" and suggest he not do it.

What are your thoughts on using rifle primers for the 9mm or pistol primers for the 223.
Try it and let us know how it turns out.

Like I said I do not like to give out load data online
but if you Google this very issue there is a TON of info on it
this is a pretty common practice

THanks for the reply bapple. After reading you and buck's response I guess I won't fudge at all on this

quote:You should stick to this concept more often. Let me be straight with you. I have no problem with people offering comments and saying what their preferences are. You take it one step further. You give people the impression that you are an expert. To the novice this might seem true, and that is what makes you dangerous. For instance, you have a video giving advice on self defense guns. You literally have FOUR guns in that video. Three of them are just different caliber handguns. Now some poor sap might go watch this video, thinking he is getting expert advise and blow his money on something that you suggested without even having the capability of presenting or discussing a wide range of fireamrs.
I didn't want to give advice on something I had never done before.

I respect your right to offer a counterpoint to Bapple's views, but it's easy to critique a man from the cheap seats. Why don't you share some of your yet to be disclosed knowledge on the subject. I'm interested in your perspective.

"Giving the impression I am an expert" is entirely subjective. I teach concealed carry and have been shooting for a while. I feel I have enough information to give advice, which is all I am doing. It's YouTube, anyway... Finding "expert" advice is slim pickings.
The OB has heard the same threads numerous times so I figured I would gather my thoughts and put them into videos since I already had a YouTube channel.

I made most of these videos in college and did not have the money to purchase a bunch of firearms.
The ones I put on the table in front of me are mainly there for demonstration purposes to give an idea of size and caliber differences.
It is up to the "poor sap" to choose his own firearm. Again, it is only YouTube and I am no expert. I feel I have enough information to give advice and teach others about firearms.
I love the sport of shooting and love getting more people involved. Sure, I have my biases as most people do. I can't stand Glocks and will poke fun at people for buying them. But for me to say a Glock is a bad choice for everyone is ignorant. What doesn't work for me may work for someone else. Different strokes for different folks...

When you take that step, you have to be prepared to answer questions, even though they might seem condescending.

Ah, so you're a theorist instead of a practitioner.

You're obviously an idiot. Better, since that's all you can come up with?

Initially I mistook you for an intellectual. I was mistaken.
Yet you can critique without sharing any of your knowledge you have on the subject OR have your opinions questioned?

Do you own any reloading manuals?
Posted on 8/21/13 at 4:26 pm to weagle99
what determines an expert?
Number of rounds loaded over a lifetime or loading for an excessive amount of different calibers?
I assume everyone who wants to reload reads about it constantly, has or seeks mentors and has the proper tools and material for said jobs.
