Good luck. I could think of a much better story than these people are going to come up with.
Then have at it. Good original scripts can trigger big time bidding wars even if its never adapted on screen.

were you even born yet when return of the jedi came out??
What does that have to do with anything?

That's like saying a superhero movie should be more than hero vs. villain, you know that right?
No, it's not. It's like saying that X-Men's only villain should be the Brotherhood of Mutants. There could be so many different type of villains in the Star Wars universe if they would allow it. What about a group of droids that wish to wipe out biological life? What about a group that wishes to wipe out everyone who is force conscious. How about a group of aliens that come from outside the Galaxy and are immune to the Force. What about some Jedi extremists who wish to eliminate most technology in order for the Galaxy to be back in natural harmony. These are just some types of villains you could go with that doesn't involve the Sith.

I would much rather them take a new direction and make the new one pretty dark. Start out on a planet we haven't seen on film (turns out to be Korriban) and essentially show 1 surviving Sith training obsessively from holocrons. Just show some of the trials he has to overcome to survive and train on the planet. Then on the flipside, show the Jedi order being restored to glory.
Sounds awesome. But, then bring back the old cast to bridge to the new movies. Have them be in the beginning of Episode 7 and have them all get killed by the new Sith Lord or something and have darkness cover the galaxy. Then, bring in a new hero to scrap and claw against overwhelming odds with many set backs. Shock us.
That's what I would do.

They'd probably just steal all of my ideas if good and I'd be standing there with my dick in my hand.

Pretty much this. I've come up with several great stories that could take place in the Star Wars universe and only like 2 of them involve the Sith as the main antagonists.. Lucas should have done this from the start and let other great film makers play in the incredible universe he created. We really should have had Knights of the Old Republic brought to the big screen before now.

Write screenplays and find an agent.

The devil is in the details man. I'm sure most of us can think of the major plot points, but its the little scenes from A to B to C and so on that make a movie. Also, dialogue is a absolute bitch to write.

That's why you get the agent. Hell even if they pay for your scripts, take a shite on them, and then produce them, at least you got paid for what you did write. It's the way of the world man. Studios will see what you write from your own desires, pay for it, and then bring you on later to write the movies they do want to produce. It's not necessarily about writing the movies you want to see as much as it is writing the movies that the studios want to put on screen.

Hell, I think a story focus around a new Sith Lord as the main character would be awesome. Kinda like Star Wars: force unleashed. Let the majority of theories be about a teenager training to be a Sith Lord. Let the emp's ghost guide him. Make him fall in love with a daughter of leia or Luke, or something. I don't know. I never read any books about it or anything. Don't they have kids in the books?

Personally, I think the rebuilding of the Jedi order in the face of a galaxy-wide threat is the way to go. The only Jedi left is Luke, so where is the sith supposed to come from?

Force Unleashed did a brilliant job of fitting a brand new story within the original story and even giving a new insight/explanation to the rebellion. I didn't make it all the way through FU2 so I'm not sure where the story goes in it.

From what I understand, Luke is the only Jedi or Sith left at the end of Return. That is balance IMO. In episode one, Yoda kept harping on and on about Anakin being the one who would ultimately be the one to bring balance to the Force. He was right, just not in the way he thought.

Come up with your plot, then characters, then dialogue. When you write, you have to picture what will look and sound best on screen rather than what reads best on paper.
There are some sites out there that have copies of scripts that made it to production. I suggest checking some of them out and even keeping one open while you type to reference it when you aren't sure what to do with your script. For me, I peek at one just to make sure I'm fine from an organization aspect.

The only known Jedi or Sith. When the order came through to eliminate them, many went into hiding. If you like Star Wars, most of the post trilogy comics are very good. Check out Star Wars Legacy. It is the story of Luke's grandson who has the power to heal and he faces off against a jedi that fought in the Clone Wars and found a sith holocron that rebuilt the sith order. It is a really good story and easy to follow.
They just started another Legacy series a few months ago that follow Han and Leia's granddaughter.

Yeah, I know. I have Final Draft. The instructor was selling them for half price. He sold us a lot of things, including screenplays for movies and TV shows, but he was good. He'd taught the guy who did The Hangover.

Comedy is a completely different beast than pretty much every other type of movie. Good luck with that

I'm far more interested in the time frame of the new movies. They seem obsessed (or at least the rumors are) with bringing cameos of the old cast from the original trilogy. There are limitless stories they could explore that could be amazing but they just seem stuck on trying to bring back people for nostalgia.
Hollywood gonna Hollywood
I'm not getting my hopes up for this new triology but at the same time the prequel trilogy left them nowhere to go but up.

To be honest, I'd be more excited if they were remaking the prequels. So much potential...

Disney isn't worried about Lucas's mistakes in the past, just making money in the future.

Just give me some badass Sith Lord and ill be happy.

I don't think he died when he fell down that tower within the deathstar. Just like Luke and Clowd City.
Posted on 8/18/13 at 10:53 am to rileytiger
so he survived that huge explosion than completely engulfed the entire shaft?
