what is your grounds:water ratio? I've seen several, anywhere from 1:3 to 1:4.5
thanks
thanks

It is not a ratio you need to follow given most models of brewer. Put a lb into the base and fill the top part to the marked line on the top piece. Let the water drain into the bottom and go for twelve hours then drain.. Repeat the water process again but go for 24 hours of steeping, mix A and B together. For a cup pour about 1/4 off the volume of the mug, add water, nuke for a minute.

I'm not making it in any sort of brewer, just a jar or pitcher, or probably a press

I don't do this often, but when I have done it in the past I brew at 2.5 times the usual strength and then fill the container with ice. The ice melts fairly quickly and after pouring over additional ice with a little milk, it usually tastes decent.
But in reality I have found it is easier just to buy it.

Trust me go to a coffee shop and but the brewer, it is way too easier than any other method.

I'm not going to go buy another piece of kitchen crap that I might use, at most, twice a year.

I'm lazy, I buy Cool Brew concentrate.

1 lb. of coffee, 72 ozs. of cold water. I let mine steep for 24 hours.
ETA: I use a Toddy now, but I've also done it in a glass bowl. Filter through a strainer once, then through a coffee filter a second time. A little sediment will settle to the bottom, but just dump it when you get to the end.

Same here. Or I'll brew a big pot of drip coffee and put what I don't drink hot in the fridge for later in the afternoon.

Thank me later.
And yes, adding a few springs of mint will take your coffee to another level. It sounds weird AF, but trust me.

Love the stuff and very cheap.

so is that 8 ounces of coffee weight or volume? If volume, that's much more coffee to water than I've seen in other recipes
the pound : 72 ounces would make way more than I want

you make any cold brewed coffee in a press? how much coffee and water did you use?

I use 1:4, but in all honesty. Its much cheaper to buy "cold brew" brand with the measured container. Dont buy New Orleans brand. Its crap.

I agree wholeheartedly. The NO brand cold brewed is weak stuff. Get the concentrated Cool Brew for the "real deal".

how is it cheaper? I already have coffee at home anyways and make it in a press every morning. I plan to use the same coffee that I always buy, just cold brew it for a day or two in the fridge in the press.
4:1 seems to be common, thanks!

I don't make cold brew, but Stumptown cold brew is awesome.

I have a 4 cup press. fill with 1 to 1 1/4 cup of coffee and then fill with water. So I guess the ration is 3.5 to 1..???? Use a coarse grind for you coffee. Let sit overnight at room temp....80 at my house.
