This what I'm getting at. Why did he find it necessary to say. Why not just come out and say "I thought that Hill had served his punishment this summer."

I really don't know. He was gonna be criticized no matter what, maybe it was just his way of publically backing his guys...or whatever.

To give the kids a sense of ownership for their program?

Don't see why GP felt the need to comment on it at all. LSU doesn't even need Hill to beat TCU.

because his punishment may not be over. and when has Miles ever publicly discussed disciplinary actions?
