No. They allowed the license to be transferred twice on a game. Used sales still existed just this time Xbox and the Devs would have a shot at sharing in the secondary market instead of it being all Gamestop.

Why did he patronize a store he obviously hates?

Stop developing games if you don't see even a little part of it (I assume he's talking about money). Or is he talking about double dipping? He wants to double dip doesn't he?
He needs to figure out how to capture his market or shut the frick up about it.

Accept the facts. An exclusive Sony dev at a sizeable studio said this.
Sorry it hurts you so.

Who knows but you people are focusing on the wrong thing.

I imagine that's easier said than done when the platform you develop for let's it be free reign on used games.

Are online passes going away completely?
Posted on 7/23/13 at 9:04 am to taylork37
EA did away with them for now. Ubisoft may still do it. I don't know.

Not biting your shitty threads but good job on the title to trick me into clicking thinking a major developer said this.
The small developers become major ones if given a chance.

You mean like how Xbone was going to control used games sales with licensing thus enabling developers to get a cut of second and third party sales?
Too bad they're pussies and backed down.

Keep posting in this thread. I love seeing how upset you get.

Yep too bad for the ignorant consumers that whooped and cheered while PS4 catered to them out of necessity as one last hail marry to save their dying company thus creating downward pressure on MS to go about their long term plans another way while in the short term games will now be higher than they are currently instead of the opposite.

Yes it is they only made a Vita GoW and you purposely make it sound like it's a major studio by leaving that out to get more bites.
Childish shite you pull.
Who gives a frick what some shitty handheld developer thinks about Gamestop.

Macatak911's solution is more simple: offer a $10 discount for digital games. One less copy on the market for resale. But we all know that won't happen.
I don't see why they haven't figured it out already. I went on the Playstation store a few weeks ago out of extreme boredom to see if there were any interesting games to download, and the prices were insane. They were charging $30 for Uncharted 3. The game is almost 2 years old and is available used online for $8. frick, they can charge more than that and I'd have bought it digitally out of convenience, but at least come close.

It's because they have to make as much as possible off of first party sales since they lose so much to second party/used sales or they have no incentive to be in business. Even on two year old games

This happened to me the other day. Would have saved me 5 bucks. I told the dude he was crazy.

Whether you agree or not about the viability of MS's original plan, they put that downward pressure on themselves.

I would really like to see the financials of a game developer.
Posted on 7/23/13 at 9:29 am to taylork37
They sucked at explaining things but due to the mass hysteria and stupidity by many they weren't really given a chance after Sony made their pitch to be relevant again and hopefully one day turn a profit.

Maybe they're losing so much to used sales because they're being idiots about their pricing.
