Tiger, the Car Wreck, and the Nike Method

Floated the idea at lunch that a struggling Tiger Woods is playing the Nike Method over the Scotty Cameron, because Nike told him too.
Here are some interesting stats:
Tiger from 2012:
Putting from 10-15 feet: 134th
Putting from 15-20 feet: 182nd
Putting from 15-25 feet: 82nd
Putting from inside 5 feet: 40th
Tiger from 2006:
Putting from 10-15 feet: 46th
Putting from 15-20 feet: 6th
Putting from 15-25 feet: 8th
Putting from inside 5 feet: 28th
Based on the stats, he is a lot better with the Newport 2, with the blacked in Ping grip. I can't say that he would be a better putter today with the Scotty Cameron or that he would have had a better day at The Open Championship, but is it unreasonable to think that post hitting a fire hydrant that Nike renegotiated their contract with him (due to a better bargaining position) and told him that he had to play the Nike Method putter?
I think his first tournament back, he was putting with a Nike Method and not the Scotty he won 13 majors with? So, is it plausible that Nike said play the Method, or else?

I thought he tried the Cameron not that long ago, maybe last season, but went back to the method

It's ridiculous to think that Nike would leverage Tiger using the putter vs. him actually winning.
99.9% of what you see of Tiger when he plays is clothing and ball.
I guarantee you if the head on Nike's golf division said, "Tiger, we need you to play with a Nike putter."
And Tiger said, "No way."
Then the head of Nike's golf division would then say, "Okay...gave it a shot."

As of John Deere for 2013
Tiger
Putting 10-15 feet - 6th
Putting 15-20 feet - 3rd
Putting 15-25 feet - 8th
Putting 5 feet - 5th
Strokes gained putting - 6th
Pga putting stats
bunker and shots out of the rough around the greens is poor.

His biggest mistake was firing Steve Williams.

Getting caught was kind of a big deal.

Tiger had two of his best putting tourneys ever earlier this year with the Method. He's 4th in strokes gained putting this year. It's not the Method.

The question isn't as much "would he be better with the Scotty or the Method?" I think he could put with an off the rack Wilson and still be exteremely competitive... The question is, "why did he switch to begin with?"

And hiring a terrible swing coach. And not hiring a mental coach.

He must have had 10 three putts this week. He was awful on and around the green.

What year did the revelations about his connection to the PED doctor come out? Might his dropp off in play coincide with that?

A better stat would be a comparison of how many of each length putt Tiger has each round.
Back in his heyday, he was hitting a lot of shot within 20 feet. Lately, that doesn't seem to be the case.
He may be among the leaders in GIR, but if he's 30 feet away from the hole rather than 20, that's a big difference.
Also, as someone else pointed out, Tiger's not as good as he once was at turning bogeys into pars. Happens to all of us.

Tiger's not converting when he sets himself up in the middle of the fairway with a pw to the hole. He used to be the best in the game at doing that. He misses greens from 100 yards regularly. That was his bread and butter back in his heyday. It's pretty amazing that he is still probably the best golfer in the world and his game is a shadow of what it used to be.

quote:He really hasnt had a drop in play. He has had a drop in majors for sure though. He is going to be far and away the number 1 player in the world this year and lead the tour in tournament wins, not to mention winning the Players for only the second time in his career. It isnt the game of golf, it is the ridiculous "it" factor he had in Majors that seems to be missing

He has become too mechanical with his terrible new swing and now his imagination and will to hit the right shot at the right moment are severely limited. He needs a coach that will let him hit his natural swing and just work with him to refine it and make it consistent. The Foley swing helps him off the tee and hinders him with his irons and wedges IMO.

the guy has multiple wins plus a Players Championship all this year and this board makes it seem he's terrible
