So we have youtube backyard brawlers, smoothie makers and reality show contestants fighting in primetime.
I know these fellas as a whole do not represent the cream of the crop in the MMA world, but like I said earlier, if they break in, seems like anyone can.

Like you said earlier, there are thousands of guys walking around on the streets who could knock out Jon Jones. Your credibility is zilch

I said win, and top tier talent. But more or less, yes.

nope. That is the closest you will get to real streetfighting(with tons more skill) where you use every skill imaginable and you are in every position imaginable. I liked old MMA the best. hardly any rules at all.

I like MMA better than boxing as long as it's upright striking. Grappling sucks to watch.
And yes, heavyweight boxing is dead at least for now. Lightweight boxing is probably suffering too. It's all Hispanic fighters that seem the same. Hard to really get attached to any of them.

Given the opportunity, I am sure there are hundreds if not thousands of men out there that could step in the octagon and get a win off of top UFC Talent.
wow. you are clueless.

Hey, thousands of guys off the street can KO Jon Jones......cause Kimbo. Can't argue with that logic.....
I always find it odd that anti-mma/pro-boxing folks use Kimbo Slice as an example. There's a reason why he couldn't hang in mma.....he wasn't nearly skilled enough. So what is ole Kimbo up to nowadays?? Boxing

I was making the argument that just about anyone can break into the sport and headline immediately.

I understand and appreciate grappling. Just not enjoyable to watch on tv.

Yes, for a decade or more now.

Once the klitschko bros relinquish their stanglehold on the title, it will open up again. We are in the midst of a bad cycle right now.

It's been dead since about 1982. Tyson made people think it was alive, but he had no one to fight.

Headlined a EliteXC event on network television. Pulled in 4.3 million viewers.
Certainly nothing to turn your nose up at.

Good point.
That's sort of true.
After Holmes demolished a 97 year old Ali...Holmes just sort of held the title and no one really cared...
Then Tyson comes along and you have a bunch of wannabes trying to assume Holmes' title...it was going in disarray when Tyson got there...
I guess people were just happy he unified.
