• A group of pelicans is called a Squadron
• Can live 25+ years
• They breed in groups called colonies
• Fossils date back to 40 million years ago
• They attack Jester

Pelicans skeleton is 1/10 of body weight (which can be up to 30 lbs).

- Pelicans inhabit every continent except Antarctica

- Pelican bills are actually able to sense creatures underwater

- When pelicans are courting, they open and close their bills to make their gular sacks ripple, strut around, and toss sticks and dried fish up into the air.

Pelican is a giant bird, which has a wingspan of five meters, so that they are able to fly up to an altitude of 3000 meters.

Pelicans are hypercarnivores

Sounds cooler than what it actually means (diet of >70% meat)

Pelicans can see fish beneath the surface of water from up to 60 feet in the air

Pelicans can nearly half its body weight in fish everyday

Pelicans work as a team to herd fish together then attack them at once

During times of famine, it was said, the mother pelican would draw her own blood to feed her young, and the early church quickly adopted the pelican as a symbol for the Christ

All those facts are obvious. If you didn't know that stuff then chances are you didn't get past freshman year of high school.
