Congrats on the score.... How you planning on cutting those tops off?
For the money you just can't beat keggles.
I tried to 'go legit' and used a MoreBeer megapot mash tun for the last few years. It had tons of dead space and my mash efficiency dropped to around 75%.
Bought my old keggle mashtun back from a friend getting out of the hobby and my last brew was back up to 85% eff.

I have an angle grinder and built a jig last night. Going to go give it a shot here in a minute.

So i took a reading of my IPA yesterday. Fermented very nicely. Sitting at 1.014. First time using WLP051 American Ale V. I took a taste. Man, this is going to be good. Huge citrus hop flavor and aroma, and a perfect amount of bitterness. I'll be dry hopping today when i get in from work. I'm dry hopping with 2 oz. citra and 1 oz. simcoe. The IPA has been a majority citra. Figured i'd add some simcoe to get a little pine aroma.

Got my copy of Craft Beer and Brewing's IPA issue yesterday.
After reading it last night I think it's a cool magazine that has some potential. There are a lot of brewer interviews/profiles and a nice selection the homebrew recipes.
The commercial reviews are short and a little odd. I'm not sure who is doing their reviewers, but they gave heady topper a 92 out of 100.
Overall I think it's a good magazine that fits somewhere between craft fans and homebrewers. The biggest problem I see is the $10 an issue cover price. IMO that's WAY too high especially when I already have subscriptions to BYO and Zymurgy.

Got 2 of my kegs cut up, wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Took about 15-20 minutes total, including changing out the cut off wheel 3 times.
I made this jig to try and keep a nice circle and it worked great.
The hole:
Fits a lid I had for my 30 quart pot, now I need to find another lid for the other one:

Thanks, it was much easier than I thought it would be.
You said you use a keggle for your mash tun, I have another keg but was planning on sticking with my 10 gallon water cooler for my mash tun. Do you lose much temperature during your 60 minute mash?

I use a RIMS setup for mashing so I don't have to worry about temperature loss.
I've used the keggle without it before I went RIMS and would wrap with blankets and I didn't lose more than a few degrees over the mash.
I would definitely stick with the cooler mash tun until you want to mash something that wont fit.

Did the most recent Zymurgy have something in the bag besides the magazine or what?
Mine came in a bag but the bag had a slit in it.

Lol, the lip of the keg kept all the flying metal contained. I did have my safety glasses and ear plugs though.

What could go wrong?

I'm just busting you balls. I brew in sandals all the time, and that involves flames and boiling liquids.
