I went to and shopped for a very brief time at the Alexanders market on Highland on yesterday. That place is going to put a hurt on Calandros on Siegen and Fresh Markets bottom line. It may make Rouses rethink thier BR location in the end.

Yes I also stopped in yesterday. Picked up a roitessierie chicken (Tyson brand btw) which I thought was a little unusual being a "specialty" store and a bag of stale fresh baked rolls. Everyone is in trouble for sure.

I stopped in after the BR Open. I thought the same thing. Well, not the same thing. But I was reminded of the Rouses in Thibodaux.

Calandros and Fresh Market can DIAF compared to Alexander's.

But Rouses will be fine.

Alexander's is less snooty than WF, and a little nicer than Rouses. It's in a good location too.

This was my exact thought when I went to Alexander's.

BLBrew,

You had to have liked the beer selection. I'm not a micro guy, but not a BMC guy either.

I was impressed.

I went by Father's Day weekend. (I live in Spanish Town and work on Bluebonnet, so I won't be a regular). I thought it was nice and they had some excellent specials. And I heard bad things on this board early on about the beer selection, but I thought it was perfectly OK. However, it was not as good as Calandro's on Siegen. And it certainly wasn't better than some of the newer Rouse's I've been to.

I lived in Germany for a while. I know what good beer is.

OP's store he's reviewing has some.

I'll say it had an average grocery store beer selection. I'm not sure if they had more on the shelves as I only hit up the cooler section to grab a sixer for a party.

I went last week. Beer selection was improved greatly from the last time I was there. They have an above average grocery store selection now.

A little more selection in the shelves, but they could take out an 1/8th of that wine section and do themselves some favors, well, do me some favors, and add more of a beer selection. For instance not a single Stone selection in house.

Won't hurt whole foods, Calandros maybe, Rouses will still build, there is enough market for these two in that area.

They normally have four or five Stone selections on hand.

It's closer to the Country Club crowd and the lower end of Perkins peeps and region.

Hmm, I'll have to take another look. I have seen plenty of Rogue, but honestly don't remember any. Have a beer run planned tomorrow so I might have to stop by to satisfy my curiosity.

Yeah CCT, is is across Highland, kind of behind the Exxon.

It's a slightly more stocked 7-11.

Try the jalapeño chicken sausage. It's homemade and the best thing in the store. Calandros hasn't and won't miss a beat, it's not even on Rouses radar. And Maxwells meat is much better. I drive right past it to the others.
