Bobby Petrino, Louisville
Houston Nutt, Arkansas
Les Miles, Oklahoma State
Bobby Williams, LSU assistant
RC Slocum, former TAMU coach

this was per Dr. Jerry Punch as sideline reporter at the Capital One Bowl against the Hawkeyes. Seems like Kirk Ferentz was mentioned a lot more.

These guys have emerged? Even a Les Miles hater can appreciate our coach when compared to these guys. Sheesh.

it was pretty bleak because saban left us at a terrible time

a month or so earlier and LSU would have had Spurrier

Saban left us in January. Our options were extremely limited.

Skip did the best he could.

This thread is confusing me.

Did I step into a time bubble?

What a crapo list sans one

President Bush(1) actually called skip at his hotel room and asked that LSU consider RC

Petrino turned skip and everyone else in the search off with his pissy attitude

Saban was pushing nutt. Obviously that fricker knew he'd end up back in the sec IMO

Williams was a courtesy only. Zero shot.

Miles is a two time sec champion an a Bcs champ as well

Ferentz was never interviewed. Feelers put out, he had no interest in a job that had/has expectations

Skip clearly hired the right guy

Looks like Miles is the only one on the list with NFL coaching experience. Let's give him a shot.

You didn't mention that in that same sideline report they said Petrino and Nutt "bowed out" and Les Miles was by and large the number one candidate.

I know the board members that interviewed Petrino for the LSU job, they both walked out of the interview saying "what a piece of shite."

Petrino is a shithead, but IMO, LSU wins the NC in '06 if he's hired. That's not to say he would have been the best long term choice, but that offense in '06 (and maybe '05 too) would have been devastating. If he could have brought in a solid DC with him, that '06 team wins the NC and destroys people.
