Your deffinition of superhero movie is broader than mine

V for Vendetta and the Matrix are the only two I wouldn't consider a superhero movie. The others are legit superhero movies, might not be in a straight forward sense but certainly could be considered one.

Bold = Not superhero movies.

Superhero films as we know them are films based on a character/characters who have appeared in more than two or three comic book issues.

Which ones aren't superhero movies?

V For Vendetta is not a super hero movie. It is a post-apocalytpic, post-noir, martial arts action epic with a dash of British kitchen sink drama thrown in.

Get your subgenres right, brah.

I understand you could make most of them into sounding like a superhero movie but i just have a more traditional view on it i guess

Bull. They don't have to be from comic books.

I think Unbreakable is the best example of what a superhero movie is. It is a slow character development of a heroes powers, just set in a more realistic tone. I will throw Watchmen and Kickass in a similar category.

The incredibles is a cartoon but still a superhero movie in every sense. Would a superman cartoon not be considered a superhero flick?

The only animated film I included was Incredibles, but there are multiple animated DC movies I'd put ahead of TDKR.

I don't put the Matrix or V for Vendetta in the superhero genre but I think you should include Kickass and the Incredibles in the genre for sure. They are homages to the genre

I didn't think the Amazing Spider Man was a well made movie either... so in spite of my disdain for a lot of the plot in TDKR I'd rank TDKE pretty far ahead of that one.

I'd put the animated two part dark knight returns above tdkr

While I don't agree with some of that list, tdkr was total crap and NOT a top ten superhero movie

How in any shape or form is the Incredibles not a superhero movie?
