Big difference between the two teams last night: Omaha experience

I think it boils down to that.
UCLA has been 3 years in a row in that new stadium and environment.
LSU hasn't. It was pressing on the kids and was obvious.
3 freshman in the lineup. Bregman pressing too hard.
Ross' mistake was a routine play.
I have supreme confidence that now that the first game is out of the way, LSU will play very, very well.

I really hope you are right. It's gonna take all hands on deck to get out of the loser's bracket.

both our errors were routine although Breg's ball was hard hit he still makes that play 98 times out of a 100.
makes last night's loss all that more difficult

Bregman got lazy yon his error. Get your arse in front of the ball.
The difference in the teams was LSU not laying off high pitches and trying to Gorilla Ball in an anti GB park. If this was at the Box, LSU rolls like 7-2. But Plutko knew LSU hitters are undisciplined for the most part. Always hitting for the fences.

Not really. That was going to be a hit. He should have just eaten the ball and not risked throwing it down the RF line like he did.

I thought he had him if the throw was there. did he beat the throw all together?

Bergman isn't the fielder a lot of people make him out to be.

We've got a very deep staff. Who is UCLA or NCState throwing on the 21st?
Losers bracket or not, I still think we're the favorite to win at this point.

He's really not a terrific shortstop. He does not make that play 98% of the time. It's true

Nope.

Let's put it this way. The runner was right there. They ruled it a hit and an error, which was the right scoring decision. It's hard to say for sure whether he would have been safe or out because the throw was no where near first base. Point was, that play was far from being routine.

Katz should have come off the fricking bag and caught the ball instead of stretching for it.

Ross' error was much more disappointing than Breg's. The UCLA runner had started on the pitch & for a split second, was right in front of Breg which didn't allow him to charge the ball. He had to sit back & wait for the hop which ate him up. All Ross had to do was pick up a ball & throw it to first.
I think the team was maybe pressing a little too hard, I also think those long flyouts & Katz's HR had our batters thinking they could get the ball out of the park on this guy & not focusing on just getting a hit & putting runners on base. Nola pitched well enough to win this game but the defense imploded behind him & this time the guy on the mound wasn't from Sam Houston State. HOpefully the guys will relax & get back to what they do best, field, hit, & get the starter out of the game.

I agree we swung at a ton of bad pitches last night, but I disagree about swinging for the fences. Look, we only had 47 HRs this year. We didn't win 57 games by swinging for the fences and hitting HRs. We had a good batting average, pitched very well, and played solid defense.
We simply didn't make adjustments at the plate last night. And of course the 2 errors killed us.

I saw Bregs boot an identical ball in warmups... Definitely crossed my mind if he was pressing. We tend to forget he's a freshman.
