I won't say it's a terrible decision, and I agree, if rhymes puts that ball 3 more feet down the line we are all praising the decision, but I just think with the current bats, the right call is to bunt there.

It was his inital call, but he gambled, 2-0, drawn in infield, hero or zero on the call. Kinda like calling an all in with a nut flush draw i guess. ftr, i was hollerin bunt, bunt, until it was 2-0, then i changed my tune, swing away!!!! guess i aint narrins bb guru

Do you think the score could have been a factor?

Lets just play devils advocate. Skip bunts cresse. What are the chances he pops it up or they still throw out the lead runner? With a guy who only cared about crushing the ball I would say his bunting abilities would have been very weak. We also never bunted back then. So he gets the bunt down and moves the runners over. Stanford walks the next guy setting up force at every bag. Still no guarantee we get the run home.

it actually is reasonable; a hit n run with a contact hitter is a good idea. Raph has to do a better job of hitting; as a college baseball player he has to know to hit the ball to the right side on a hit n run

Most of those gestures going back and forth between infielders are just to keep the opposition guessing. In the overwhelming majority of instances the second baseman will cover when a right hand batter is at the plate and vice versa with the SS. They know from the outset who will cover and they're not switching back and forth as you're indicating.

Edit to add: No brainer. The bunt was in order.

What gets me are all the people who are just outright bashing CPM and anyone else they can blame as if they suck. I mean, reading this board, you'd think LSU baseball was in the gutter.

It was a situation where he went with his gut instinct, instead of playing it by the book. I am sure in his career it has paid off more than not, but with the bats the way they are now, and the big park, I personally would have liked him to put the bunt down, and gave us a chance to tie it up.

Rhymes hit was a weak one to the 3rd baseman. It was an easy one hopper right to him. I didn't think he hit the ball hard at all. I'm o.k. with him rolling the dice though. Just wish things would have turned out different. Good news is we're still alive - even if for one more day! Geaux Tigers!

You know that a weak hit to the third baseman will take too long for the ball to get there and they couldn't have turned two right?
