Other Native Americans are offended by it, and that to me is good enough reason to change it. It's not right to tell them to "Suck it Up" or "Stop being so Sensitive" when it is clearly understandable why they are offended by it.

Exactly.

And we've been hearing about it more often in recent years because people are feeling more empowered to talk about it than they were back in the good old days, when newspapers would write racist slurs in articles and headlines to describe minorities and when domestic violence was nothing more than a punch line in a popular tv show (pun intended).
