I know this thread has been started at least once before, but a search for "House of Cards" finds no results. None. I know there's a thread with this exact same title, but I can't find it. Anyways. . .

The show's not really as good as I expected, considering the acting and directing talent involved. I'm through 7 episodes, and it doesn't really have my attention. I can't see how (or if) the plot is going to come together; it just seems like a bunch of rambling episodes. After the first episode, I expected the plot to revolve around Underwood getting his revenge against the President, but that hasn't seemed to happen.

None of the actors, including Spacey, is that convincing to me. The Congressman-turned-governor-candidate is probably the best of the bunch IMO. I find Spacey's accent more annoying than realistic. And. . . I've lost all hope of seeing Kate Mara naked.

All those things combined, I'm just not very impressed by the show. What are you guys' thoughts on it? If anyone can link one of the old threads, I would appreciate it.

I loved it. It definitely started to pick up towards the end. But I never lost interest.

I loved it.

ETA: The show that is. Not the absence of naked Kate Mara.

That whole sidebar with the audience technique gets really tiresome for me, and the only place I could really stomach it for any length of time was in "Parks and Recreation". There are a lot of times, too, when Kevin Spacey's manufactured accent sounds too manufactured. Through four episodes I didn't find any of the story lines particularly compelling, either. An education bill? Who gives a rat's arse.

I guarantee by season finale you will see how every story line is important, and wraps together.

With House of Cards, I can watch one episode and be done for the day. There's no excitement or intrigue to make me watch the next episode right away. Versus Breaking Bad, for instance, when I slept maybe 10 hours through the whole 4 seasons. I couldn't wait to watch the next episode! Not so with HoC.

I was hoping this was the case. I figured all the story-lines would somehow be connected; I guess I just haven't gotten there yet.

I had the same attitude, then at the end of the season I wanted more. I think it is because early on we dismiss shite like the education bill storyline, but towards the end we realize how important every detail was. It almost feels as though they have given up on the revenge plot...until

if you think this 7 episodes in, then you'll probably still feel it all the way through

I was immediately hooked and interested in everything that was happening.

I love seeing all the tense confrontations and Frank just fricking over everyone

You r a idiot

If you're really that small headed and not trolling as you do on the poli board.

The education bill isn't even the main point of one episode

I was totally like WTF?!? I don't know if that will tie into something later on in Season 2 or if they just threw it in b/c the show is kinda liberal or what.

Also, if you're 7 eps in and don't really care for it, the show may not be for you. Some friends tried to get me to watch it one night about midnight when we were all just hanging out and about 20 mins into episode 1, I told them no, not interested. A week later I started again when I wasn't tired as hell and could actually pay attention and I was hooked. I went through the entire season in about 3 days. I loved the show. It is really cool to see everything tie together too. Francis is the man
