My Confession - Microwave Red Snapper

Forgive me Father for I have sinned..
So for the last year or so 3 or 4 people have told me about Microwaving fish..
Its Easy and its good they would say. Yea OK I would reply.
So I got home late tonight to find one more Snapper Filet from the past weekend to cook.
What the hell, I have some packing to do tonight and not a lot of time.
So a couple pats of butter, creole seasoning, Slice an onion on top with a splash of lemon juice in a microwave dish and cook on high for 5 minutes while I slice a few homegrown tomatoes and cucumbers.
I gotta admit it was pretty damn good. Flavorful and evenly cooked. One dish and ready in no time.
Now I ain't giving up my pan seared snapper by any means, but for quick meal I may try this again.
Now excuse me while I go say three Our Fathers and a Hail Mary.
I wish I could stick around for the Brouhaha to follow but I am off in search of more of the endangered Red Snapper to microwave.

I've heard of nuking fish, but it was always done inside of a bag along with the onions and herbs.
OP, this was directly on the plate?

I've nuked snapper in the galley on charter trips several times. Freshest fish ever, and as long as you are careful not to overcook, it was pretty good.

Hard to prove the legal length of a fillet

They fit nicely on the plate we were microwaving them on.

My mom lives alone so she cooks basically just for herself now. She often cooks herself 2 filets of catfish in the microwave a couple times a week for dinner. I dont see anything wrong with it and it isn't all that different from baked fish.

My moms always done fish this way, it's good shite too!!

How in the world would one catch a red snapper in the first place? You must be an awesome fisherman.
Microwaved it? Not enough Hail Marys.

I've done this with speckled trout and it was quick, easy, and delicious. Got the recipe from a fishing guide, so I figured it had to be good.

nah, I care more about the actual ingredient rather than the method of cooking. there are professional, world-renowned chefs that use microwaves for some things.
If the guy would have been microwaving frozen Vietnamese tilapia filets like a lot of folks on the Rant and O-T probably buy from Sam's in bulk, then yeah the thread would have been a pile of shite.

I watched my father-in-law cook a couple crabs in the microwave once. He cleaned them (pulled shell and gills, clipped legs), cut them in half with scissors, and microwaved them in italian dressing, hot sauce, and salt/pepper. Said he started doing in when living in hotels working out of town. It's not as good as a boiled crab, but it is something different.

So microwave cool, crock pot lazy ?
Posted on 6/7/13 at 10:19 am to TigerWise
not so much the lazy part .. it's the fact that 90% of thing I've had from a crock pot have been fricking disgusting or bland as all hell.
