Dude you started a thread about firing a coach. Belgium is better than us, germany is better than us.
Sure we could get a better coach, but we arent getting better players. Let jurgen do his thing. We will qualify, thats all that matters rt now.
I know you think/thought we wont, but we will. Change coaches and dont make it just means we will change again. Really we need better players. Better domestic leagues, but wont happen anytime soon. Americans arent.just going to flock to the games. Most dont even understand it. Some just shrug it off and will never like it cus they think.its un american.
There really isnt a whole lot of opp for soccer players after hs. Sec is a premier athletic conference, no mens soccer. Why would these kuds want to.play soccer and make zero money when they can.make a hell of a lit more playing in the mlb, nba or nfl? The best athletes will continue to play those sports.

I give credit where credit is due. You have to be careful with this:
However, It's good to see there is some fire.

"[Jones] doesn't shy away from putting people into place," Klinsmann told me. "It doesn't make him very sympathetic sometimes, because if you go in the face of some teammates it's not going to be what they want. But he does it for the better of the team. So I give him that freedom here. I tell Jermaine often, 'You don't shy away from anything. If you need to put somebody in line, you put him in line. Don't hold back!'" Read More: SI.com

Why didn't Klinsmann name Michael Bradley captain? Many of the people I spoke to, including former U.S. coach Bruce Arena, thought Bradley, 25, would be the choice. But Klinsmann had other ideas for now. "In a certain way it's an age thing," said Klinsmann. "But he definitely has the characteristics to become a very, very good leader. It's just in his nature and the way he was brought up by his dad. He's always looking after other players."

Not trying to call anyone out bc I was kind of in agreement with a lot that was said in this thread. But, remember when the sky was falling a few months ago? What a difference in the overall performance and attitude of our National Team.

The only reason I didn't want Klinsi fired was because he was on track to get us qualified for the world cup. He was getting the job done, and even though it was ugly, it wasn't enough to fire him for.
It's taken Jurgen an incredibly long time to figure out the team and he still calls in players like Parkhurst, Beckerman, and Castillo for no good reason while leaving guys like Eric Lichaj at home... but we're winning now, and we look pretty good doing it.
Does he have a much deeper player pool to work with than Bradley had in his run? Yes. Would Bradley have us sitting this pretty at this point? I don't think so.

I think the concern was justified at the point, especially given the shite form of the team in the six months leading up to the collapse at Honduras. The Straus article was the final straw.
To Klinsmann's credit, he seems to have listened to the criticism and adjusted his methodology. Lineups have stabilized, and he seems to be much more open about his rationale behind lineup changes / roster omissions. He HEARD the criticisms and changed his behavior, likely because he knew his arse was on the line.
To the players credit, they rallied around their coach, and started playing with some fire.
I still believe the calls to get his arse out the door were appropriate IF we didn't get results vs. Costa Rica and Mexico.... but we did. We sure as shite didn't want to end up where Mexico is right now.
We have 13 points through 6 games. In the 2010 Hex, we had 10 points through 6 games, but we had already played (a MUCH stronger) Mexico twice. We reached 13 in the 7th game.

While I agree with that premise, I don't think we score in the snow or get a late goal at Jamaica playing Bob-Ball.
That being said, I also don't think we surrender a 1 goal lead at Honduras playing Bob-Ball.

My guess is that we wouldn't have needed a late goal in Jamaica. And recall that we had ONE shot on goal in Denver. Let's not re-remember us as some offensive juggernaut in that game.
Let's also not remember "Bob-ball" as causing us to have 1-0, 0-0 games every game.

I know.
I don't think we score at all that game. There was a 20 minute window in that game where it was actually possible to score.
Bob's US teams were notorius for not starting out strong, only to adjust as the game went on.

Agreed. Previous US teams were much better at set pieces, though and could have nicked a goal that way.
I'm not sure what we're arguing.

I really think a lot of that has to do with Dempsey taking the majority of the free kicks now instead of Donovan. I'd be a rich man if I got a penny for every 30+ yard free kick Deuce sailed into the stands.
I don't think we are really arguing anything .

Well, frick it. I'm winning then.
Gomez sails every free kick, too.
I think this Gold Cup team will score some set piece goals. Beasley, Torres, Donovan and Holden are great set piece takers and Gooch and Goodson (and Gomez and Wondo) are good in the air.

I disagree.. I'd imagine that this was more of a plan from a beginning like a long try out. Lets slowly narrow players and lineups until i get 23 or so players that i want to bring to brazil..
Plus i doubt he would have been fired before brazil

I am happy to be wrong if it means the USMNT is winning
