Looking to add a 1911 to my arsenal without breaking the bank. All can be had for less than $800.
Which one would y'all choose?
Ruger SR1911
Springfield Armory Range Officer
Kimber Custom II
Thanks!

My dad bought a ruger...I shot it...I bought a ruger.
We now own two kimbers, two rugers, and one colt between my father brother and myself.

The Range Officer was made to be customized, not as an out of the box gun. The Kimbers tend to have quality issues in their basic models.
For that price, you can't beat the Ruger.

Ruger is a solid gun I'm guessing? (1911)

I like the Ruger.
I have a Kimber, but it doesn't have any of the Series II/80 mechanisms in there.

Get the ruger. It can be had for around 700, although many places carry it for 800.

Damn. Sold out.
Jim's has it for $749.
I've wanted the Ruger for months, just wanted the OB to weigh in.
Thanks for all the replies.

The fit of the RO is the same fit in barrel, bushing, and slide to frame as the TRP and the target gun they have. Name slips my mind at the moment. Nonetheless they are both far and away better guns than the base kimber and the ruger. My vote: SA
