OK good. Is that why Bianco came out and argued?? I had no idea what the hell the arguing was about.

It doesn't really matter since he was safe. Ole miss coach was probably arguing runner interference with his catcher making a play. Rhymes had a right to that path so there was no argument. The ump should have turned that coach around quickly

This!

Dude was going for the ball.

Yeah, he called obstruction before Rhymes even touched home. Everything was done correctly, just a bad timing play. Ideally, you'd like the catcher to move up a step to field that ball. But it wasn't an intended malicious play IMO

I was sitting down 1st base line and had a good angle. Catcher was making a play for ball and swiped up for tag. Cool SC highlight but did not see it as dirty.

Trying to "truck" a catcher is a bad idea. Rhymes did the smart thing. I have tried it before and you are at such a disadvantage you will lose more times than not. Plus that catcher looked pretty solid compared to Rhymes.

There is also no point in Rhymes risking injury.

I thought in college ball if the runner tries to truck the catcher the runner gets ejected

This. Look at the umpire pointing to the catcher and then pointing to the plate.

The announcers saw that and said that the umpire awarded Raph home plate but that it didn't matter because Raph got there anyway. The catcher was clearly moving up the line to field the ball, but Raph got to him a split second before the ball did. Looks like the ball might have hit Raph just as he was colliding with the catcher.

The catcher might have had a better chance if he had moved inside the base path and tried to field the ball and swipe tag Raph. Instead he blocked the base path, missed the ball and got called for obstruction. Good hustle by Raph and good call by the ump..

After it happened, all I could think of was how awesome it would have been to see Spencer Ware truck another catcher.
