Brandon Roy released by the timberwolves

the Minnesota Timberwolves are formalizing the release of shooting guard Brandon Roy, effectively ending his career. After signing with Minnesota in the summer of 2012, Roy showed little ability to play with his seriously damaged knees and managed just five games for 122 total minutes. It stands to reason that Roy will decide not to pursue another contract, and even if he did it's hard to know if any team would be interested in his services.
You were one of my favorite players. You were so much fun to watch. A career ended too soon. You will live on in the hearts of the MSB forever.
Never Forget You - A Tribute To Brandon Roy
Top 10 Brandon Roy
One of the best games I've had the pleasure to watch

Dude was good, it's a shame.

Sucks for the guy. Seemed like a hard worker who was plagued with injuries.

People forget that he was considered by many to be a top 5 player in the league. Portland was on their way to being an elite team.

Portland: Where injuries happen
Posted on 5/11/13 at 9:31 am to DollaChoppa
Portland had some of the worst luck with knee injuries with Oden and Roy.
Roy was one of my favorite players in the league and it's always sad when a career gets cut short with injuries..

If you really loved him, you'd write him a shitty poem.
Something like that.

and this is true
you were the best we've ever seen
BECAUSE YOU WERE THE RABID WOLVERINE!!!!!!!!!!!

He really fricked up coming back from knee surgery for a few playoff games.

It might have cost him his career but at least he didn't have to be called a pussy in multiple threads by the MSB doctors like D. Rose.

He needs to go to Germany and get the Kobe treatment
Posted on 5/11/13 at 10:13 am to supatigah
He tried that.
I know it's implied in this thread, but it's not stated yet. He officially retired for the 2nd time.
One of my all-time favorite players and he might've been the most clutch player in the league when he played. It's a shame this happened. He had bad knees all the way back in college though. I wonder if he tries to stick around the game and becomes a coach. People have been implying that he might join the UW staff which would be awesome to see.

That Rockets game is still the best NBA game I've ever seen. I was folding clothes in the guest room and I turned the TV on and started watching casually, but for the last 10 minutes of that game I did nothing but sit on the edge of the bed, anxiously watching. When Roy hit that shot, I went completely nuts.

Yeah, because if Roy would have just waited until the next season to comeback, he would have grown some more cartilage in his knees.
Degenerative knees tend to heal themselves if given enough time

Well, to be fair, all indications point to DRose being a giant pussy

At least he's got the Brandon Roy leatherman tool to fall back on.
