Im not sure about the very best thing ive ever eaten.......
But the best steak I have ever had was at St. Elmos Steakhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
Was the only good thing about living in Indy......everything else sucked.

Its just too complex of a question. I have eaten some amazing dishes over the years, hard to pick one as the best.

Osso buco in this homestyle restaurant in Milan.
A "Mozambique crustacean" in Cape Town. Most succulent meat of any kind I've ever had.

Hard question. Probably some salmon in Seattle. Or some really awesome gumbo....Herbsaint comes to mind. Wanted a vat of it.

Likely one of the many great dishes I ate in Thailand. Perhaps this Tom Yum I got from a street vendor. The broth was so complex it blew my mind.

My best food recollections all revolve around times I've eaten and been the most hungry not necessarily the best food.

A fresh caught seafood platter in Venice, Italy. The patio dining and smell of salt water in the air complimented the briny seafood all the more. It was a wonderful dining experience coupled with amazing wine.
Truffle risotto with wild mushrooms at the peak of truffle season in sienna Italy was amazing as well.
Lobster Mac n cheese, surprisingly from Sullivan's paired with their 45 day dry aged ribeye.
