A study of 223 NCAA Division I athletic departments at public schools reveals that LSU was one of just seven to report receiving no subsidy money in 2012, according to USA Today. Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue and Texas were the others.

LSU and Texas had the only 2 baseball programs that were self-sustaining a few years back. I know that isn't a big line item but both are on the list so there is some correlation.

The LSU AD intentionally declines any state money.

First, they wanted the autonomy to be able to do whatever they wanted without leaving their fate in the legislatures hands.

Second, even without TAF, the AD was self-reliant with sponsorships, ticket sales, etc.

and add to that LSU and I think Nebraska were the only two to not receive any subsidy and RETURNED MONEY TO THE UNIVERSITY.

Everyone should be proud that we receive no state funds and contribute $7 million back to the university every year!

Wait for the posters complaining we spend too much on athletics while the school suffers.

Football program is keeping this uni afloat.

The other SEC schools are not located in Louisiana. If they were in Louisiana they wouldnt want to take money from our state legislature with all the pockets to line as a result either.
