Yeah, I wonder if they have a change of heart now. She's a pretty strong character that'd be hard to replace.
I read that the actress that plays her is in a pilot for CBS. So what happens to her may depend on whether it gets picked up or not.

Granny is great, and as she said, was a true and loyal soldier and protected her agents. I also love that she dispatched that guy and how she did it was truly novel.
As for Philip and Elizabeth, I liked the interplay in the episode. Indicative of work partners looking out for each other, as well as people that have a genuine emotional connection. I thought the last thing Elizabeth said, and how she said it, was great.
Daughter...yeah, that's gonna be interesting next season.

For real though, the only way I can see Stan going traitor is if his wife leaves him or continues to lock up the P, and he keeps banging Nina.

Wouldn't that be some shite, how he had complete control of her in week 3 to her pretty much recruiting him as an asset by next season? The power of the P!
and not saying it's going to happen, but I guess it's a possibility.

It's going to happen. They are already setting it up with his wife not wanting to take the trip.

NEVER put the P on a pedestal.
It causes you to betray your country.

I'm gung ho 'Merica as it gets. But if Nina wanted me to go Soviet, I'd have to at least hear her out on it.

...at least until you 'finish' amirite?

I believe Nina will try to recruit Stan, this will be a sub plot next season, but she will fail.

What was the daughter doing at the end? I thought she was going to find something incriminating.

Me too. I was so confused by that scene. I thought she was going to find the record player that Elizabeth listened to earlier in the episode.
Can someone explain what was the significance of Paige at the end??

Nothing happened. She just was suspicious/curious about what her mom was doing there in the middle of the night. Probably thinking more like she is sneaking in from cheating with a dude or doing drugs or something, but she saw folded clothes, which Elizabeth told her she was doing in there.
It was just suspense that she might find something, and foreshadowing her being nosey in the future too.

I could definitely see Paige finding out eventually.
Also, I think Paige will eventually date Stan's son .
And I hope they continue to use a lot of 80s music. Really like Phil Collins in episode 1 and Peter Gabriel at the end of this episode. . I've always loved 80s music even though I wasn't even around in the 80s.

What would you do if you were a teen in high school, during the gung-ho "F' the reds" early Reagan years, and found out your parents had always been KGB and you were their cover?
Crazy stuff.
I think Stan thinks something too. He suspected them from the very beginning. He may turn, remember the KGB has turned some high level FBI agents before. ( Robert Hanssen)
Of course they wouldn't have them get caught as it would end the show. Because of this I think it is likely that Stan will turn. He is going to figure it out, and Nina will be successful in bringing him over.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first season of The Americans. I was hesitant to start the series but am sure glad I did.
I thought Claudia was going to end up in a coffin by end was last night's episode but was glad it didn't go down. I have much more respect for her after her exchange with the residentur (sp?) in the car. I hope she finds a way back next season.
Nina is a dead bitch walking. Good pussy will only get you so far. Beeman will eventually figure out who spoiled the plan and will have to make a decision to join her or kill her. I'm guessing they'll set it up as if he's joining her and then lay the boom on Nina.
I'm loving the direction they are going with the daughter's curiosity. I really like both the kids as actors and finding out about their parents' true nature will be a major story line in the upcoming season. As a comparison, I really enjoyed the episodes in the first season of The Sopranos where meadow and anthony were becoming more interested in their father's profession. I think The Americans can do something similar here, although in a much more suspenseful manner.
I wouldn't want to be that gambler guy when Philip and Elizabeth gets to him.

He was so pissed when they killed his partner that he went out and killed a random Russian consulate worker. I think it'd be pretty hard to flip Stan to actively help the Russians. Bad homelife =/= disgruntled American. Maybe they can convince him to let Philip and Elizabeth escape but any more than that wouldn't work IMO.

I just want to see more of the son's band.

Me too. Really loved hearing The Cure "Siamese Twins" a few episodes back. Awesome.
