What about suffering through Dale Brown's bad coaching when we had Shaq, CJ, and Roberts?

On the field?
We had several embarrassing football performances in the 1990's. However, by and large, they were expected. Most of our mortifying losses during that era were witnessed only by a smattering of Tiger Stadium die-hards and the occassional regional television audience. National broadcasts were rare. Our shame was private. We were like a grossly obese girl who spends her Friday nights eating cheeseburgers, watching syndicated Friends reruns, and dreaming of the day she will be kissed by Johnny Depp. Humiliating, but largely unobserved.
By contrast, 1/9/12 was a national spectacle of shame. Expectations ran high. The program was in search of history. Everything was on the line, and the whole world was watching. But we didn't even compete, nor make a single effective adjustment. In one fell swoop, we lost the undefeated season, lost the NC, diluted the value of our SEC championship, and allowed our arch-rival to seize the reigns of dynasty. We were like a beautiful prom queen who steps onto stage, only to inexplicably vomit, crap her dress, and then try to eat the resultant stream of feces.
There are many different forms of embarrassment.

I don't understand how Stony Brook was all that embarassing. We lost to the better team in a super regional rubber match.
And the only reason they got that game was because Gauseman was throwing in a downpour.
Take away those two innings and SB is bounced.

getting throttled at home by ole miss a week after finally beating florida in 97 was pretty embarrassing.
but nothing on the level of 1/9. that was the dirt worst, and it couldn't have happened against a worse opponent for us.

And folks get words mixed up IMO
Disappointed by 1/9 of course
Embarrassed? No
It's like the Collins thing that Brando got some heat about. Said he's not a hero. Which is true. Courageous? Sure hero no
Always will be disappointed about 1/9- always but not embarrassed in the least
Edit: damn phone hate them
